Wow! I am so glad I decided to read all the reviews before moving forward on applying for a rental thru Marchant! I definitely will not apply now! I did speak with someone in the office and questioned their $500.00 cleaning fee! I have never heard of an agency charging that upon move in! I consciously could not move out and not leave it clean! Someone would be pocketing $500.00! I have only rented two properties since selling my house and I'm still 6yrs in the 2nd rental but needing Berea High school area. My first rental, I got all of my deposit back, it was spotless when I moved and this place will also be spotless! I also read everything a couple of times and also saw the hidden fees! So as for me I will not even look at any of their available properties! FYI I noticed a majority of good reviews are from the owners of the properties, not the renters!

Marchant are communicative, professional and hold themselves to a high standard. As a vendor, we provide maintenance services to many of their properties, and we have been extremely impressed with their streamlined systems and overall integrity as a company. Adrien has been a pleasure to work with, and is always trying to find a win-win-win situation for her tenants, owners and vendors. Not an easy task, but she manages it beautifully!

My husband and I are at our six-month mark with Marchant and we just had our semi-annual inspection. I wish I would have gotten the two women’s names who came to this property as they were great. I wasn’t feeling all that well that day and attempted to make myself scarce, but when I did encounter them, they put me right at ease. My husband told them about some issues we’d noticed (gutters, a water leak in the freezer, and a missing doorbell which they already knew about) and they put the work orders in for us. Today the gutter people were here and did an amazing job cleaning the gutters. They left no trace on the ground and tonight when a big storm came through, the gutters worked flawlessly. (I’m going to need to know the name of that company). A repair person is coming out Friday for the freezer. We’ve had other issues—a leaking shower drain upstairs that was spotting the ceiling downstairs, a clogged dishwasher, and the furnace stopped working at the end of last year when my husband was here and before I arrived in South Carolina, and all these things were addressed and fixed pretty quickly. With all the horror stories I’d heard about rental management companies before we moved to South Carolina, I was filled with trepidation about dealing with one, but Marchant has been really good. I’ll still be glad to get our own home when the times comes, but these folks have made renting a lot less painful than I imagined it would be. 10/10 would recommend.

Our experience with Marchant has been positive—they’ve been responsive and professional. Unfortunately, the property itself was very disappointing. The photos were outdated and did not reflect the actual condition: outlets didn’t work, the AC was out and then fixed poorly, the backyard fence was destroyed (and never properly repaired), the bathtub leaked, and the house had a severe cockroach infestation. While some issues were addressed quickly, others were ignored or left to us to handle, including the pre-existing pest problem. Given the state of the home and the lack of follow-through on promised repairs, we were left quite dissatisfied with the rental.
