Merkins Farm Cafe

Came here today with my disabled 83yr old father. Both had the Ham ,egg and chips. The chips were hard like they had been put in an oven to keep warm. I would of complained but also being disabled and partially sighted it was unsafe for us to go into the shop to complain, we were hoping the waitress would come and ask how are meal was, but this didn’t happen , so only way to make the complaint is in this review. If the owners would like to comment on my review I would appreciate it, as paying £31.10 for two Ham , egg and chips and two cappuccino is rather expensive and over the top. I would have been happy to pay this price if the food was up to standard . Very disappointing as I was treating my father to a meal out .

We visited Merkins (stop giggling at the back!) Farm Cafe on an sunny Sunday morning in March. I knew this cafe is a popular destination so we got there in time for the 9am opening. A queue of about 15 people were waiting for the doors to open. A good sign! We were greeted and shown to our table in a very light and airy dining room with expansive views over the sheep speckled fields. The breakfast menu was full of choice and the cake selection was hard to ignore! We chose The Farmhouse Breakfast and a Scrambled Eggs with Smashed Avocado and Bacon. Both were delicious and very satisfying. Our only (slight) gripe was that our coffees were served in takeaway cups. This would have been even less of a gripe had the table next to us not been given theirs in lovely cups and saucers. All in all this cafe is a fantastic place for a treaty spot of breakfast. Loads of outside space for kids to run about too. Definitely recommended.

Have heard about the magical powers of this place, but never before ventured this far. To be fair, if you didn't know what it was you would probably drive past it without realising - which is possibly part of its hidden gem charm. As you drive in, you have a beautiful view over the Wiltshire countryside - and even on a fairly chilly March day it was just glorious to behold. The cafe itself is very easy to access, nice disabled parking - thank you. There are tables and sheds outside for al fresco but we decided to dine indoors. Looks very inviting as you walk in and all the staff looked genuinely happy - which is nice - and we were seated within a couple of minutes. Good choices for all tastes, including vegan, veggie and gluten free options. Decided to go for the Veggie Breakfast. The Husband had the hash browns. Both meals came out quickly, and both were delicious. If I had one niggle, my beans were cold - but I eat in a funny order so it was more my fault than the cafe's. Also had a glorious hot chocolate - with vegetarian marshmallows (thank you), while him indoors had a pot of tea. Overall, great location, fantastic staff, very good food. If you're in the area, it's worth a look... but don't tell anyone else... They also do lovely cakes, but I wasn't allowed to sample one... Maybe next time!😀
