I have to be honest, while my experience was upsetting, they were accommodating. We originally applied for one unit and stated we have a dog. We were then given a lease for another unit that we only later realized. Nothing was communicated to us about this until we made mention and we were informed that the other unit did not approve our dog. We were sort of pushing for a quick resolution and again they accommodated that but I have to wonder that due to the condition of the apartment, if they were capitalizing on our perceived urgency. There was a lot that we did wrong on our end and I do not blame SPP for that. My issue lies in the live bugs (suspected cockroach nymphs due to further research into surrounding units, including another SPP property) in the unit being deemed “not uninhabitable living conditions”, and therefore not voiding the lease. And even more so, the hostility I was met with when I walked in the office with one goal, to terminate the lease before we even moved in. I felt as if I was being talked down to and even threatened to a minor degree. Overall $600 in penalty fees was gladly paid to wash our hands of the mess.
