Visiting this property is like stepping back in time to a beautiful era. And I don't only mean because of the jaw-droppingly beautiful decor. The staff was so friendly and helpful at every turn; they are a delightful departure from where we find ourselves with the service industry in general in 2025. Back to the decor: There are some incredible antiques from the 18th century, brass throughout the hotel (including a free standing antique brass postal box and a wine cellar enclosure like I have never seen) Tiffany lighting fixtures, inlaid wooden flooring in the elevator, and even sleigh beds in the guest rooms. There is great attention to detail everywhere. For my purposes, the location couldn't have been better because I had business at East Tenn. State University, which was literally right outside the door. I hope I will have the opportunity to visit again!
It's got the look, feel, and service of a luxury hotel without the pretentiousness. The front desk staff was professional and helpful. They were sure to point out all the amenities when I checked in. Bartenders were skilled in the art of conversation. This is a huge plus for a solo traveler. They also made great recommendations on both food and beer selctions. I felt very taken care of during my stay.
So, the hotel is nice good staff, didn't stay long. Pool was still open after labor day. Huge saving grace, the restaurant food is very pricey however the fruit was fantastic. No complaints from others about the food. The location there in TN in that area is a DEAD ZONE NO SERVICE, the locals seem to be ok with it. Weird for me it was a first. So cant speak to much but what I can attest to was nice, and pleasant. Free apples in the lobby, spa downstairs, so is the ice machine and microwave. Oh basic tv no smart tvs anywhere.
