Visited for Anniversary meal. We have been here a few times before- in the earlier days when it had an M star it was fantastic but sadly declined. Having not been for a few years and noting under new ownership we had high hopes but very disappointed. We had the very expensive tasting menu which was all style and no substance. The combinations just didn't work, bland and flavourless and I had to send my halibut back as was completely raw inside. The lamb cutlet was nearing on raw and the fat not rendered down so chewy and greasy. The pre-dessert and dessert were like something from a children's party! Up your game and stop relying a reputation from years past. If you're going to provide a taster menu and charge those prices then do it with love and care. Can't express how disappointed we were and shall not be returning.
Taken for Sunday lunch to celebrate my 90th birthday. Very disapointed with food. Started with trout which was served raw so not eaten. Main meal served just warm and meat piled on top of roast poatoes and veg so that they were soggy. Choice of suits very poor, no friut or ice cream dishes. No serviettes or salt and pepper on the table. Did not stop for coffees ! Would not recommend this establishment.
Very enjoyable wine themed evening, with an accompanying 4 course meal. Lovely selection of Rhone wines presented by Alastair Gibson of Heritage Wines. The dinner was great, bar one course, the duck, which had too many sinew strands, making it very chewy - shame. It's a lovely setting in Emsworth. The service is very friendly and welcoming.
