Pottstown Hospital

I went to Pottstown Hospital with dangerously high blood pressure (over 200), and they still made me sit in the waiting area for more than two hours before doing anything. There were only a few people there, so there was no excuse for that kind of delay. When you go to an emergency room, you expect urgency, compassion, and basic professionalism — none of that was shown here. The staff seemed indifferent, no sense of concern for the seriousness of my condition, and no updates while I waited. If this is how they treat patients in critical situations, it’s honestly alarming. I will never go back, and I hope others think twice before trusting their health to this place.

Our family had an excellent experience with Pottstown Hospital during my husband’s long and difficult stay. The level of care we received went far beyond our expectations. The nursing staff, especially Emily, showed extraordinary compassion. She was always gentle and patient with my husband, responding quickly to his needs. What also touched me was how she cared for me as a family member, too—bringing me a blanket when I was cold, asking if I needed anything, and showing empathy at every step. Those small acts of kindness made a huge difference during a stressful time. We also want to recognize Dr. Michael Tkach, who truly stood out. He never made us feel rushed, even when answering many detailed, technical questions. He took the time to explain everything clearly and thoroughly, respecting our backgrounds and making sure we felt informed and understood. His professionalism, patience, and genuine concern provided both clarity and comfort to our family. Thank you to the entire team at Pottstown Hospital. The care, compassion, and respect we received here were truly remarkable.

My only complaint about this hospital are the ER staffing choices, hence why this is not a 5-star review. Do better to hire more compassionate people, please. I shouldn't be giggled at for self-harming as if I'm in high school again. Now getting into the positives: This was my second time inpatient in the psychiatric unit of the hospital and I have to say it is such a welcoming and safe environment. The nurses are absolutely amazing, especially Jen S., Donna, Deb, and Steve G. Absolutely amazing individuals who are no doubt born to help people, truly. Whenever I needed anything, even a laugh, they were there. The food is amazing, the schedules they have you on create stability and routine that truly help you get your life put together that much more. Your issues are taken seriously. There is group therapy 3-4 times a day and sometimes 1:1 therapy if needed. Dr. G is an amazing psychologist and the 1:1 session I had with him was fantastic. If you're considering going inpatient, this location is very safe and is my go-to in case I ever need to go back.
