e: Blake Hotel New Orleans, BW Premier Collection||This is a complaint about the Blake Hotel in New Orleans. We stay at Best Western Hotels quite often as we find their standards to be good and we know what to expect. The Blake Hotel, however, does not meet standards and should not be part of the Best Western chain of hotels. It provides only three benefits: location, valet parking and an acceptable restaurant.||It is an old hotel and it desperately needs renovation: Chipped paint on walls and baseboards, broken cabinet doors and cupboard drawers, broken bathroom fixtures, low lighting.||It is filthy. It needs a deep cleaning of everything!!!! (even if a hotel is old, it can be clean). It has not been properly cleaned for years! A person would not like to walk in bare feet on the carpet or on the bathroom floor.||The first room we were given was tiny (no room even for a chair or luggage rack). There was only one lamp with a low wattage bulb...perhaps this was deliberate so that we could see how dirty the room was. The door to the cabinet for the microwave etc. was broken. Splashes of who knows what on the walls of the bathroom . The vanity containing the sink was dirty; the legs had never been cleaned. There was long hair and dirt in the bathtub. There was hair and dirty footprints on the floor. We asked to be moved after the first night.||The second room was a lot better, but it was still dirty. Again, hair and dirt in the bathtub. Hair and dirty footprints on the floor. Splashes of something on the walls, etc. The mirror on the bathroom door had chunks missing from the corners and was losing its finish. The temperature control for the bath/shower was broken off . The lighting was better than the first room, but the lamps were missing bulbs.||Owner...Please do an inspection of the Blake and unless the owner brings the hotel up to BW standards, remove it from the BW group.

While the hotel is older, the room we had was clean. The bathroom is small, but the room was bigger. It was a trade off I would do again. Great location on the St. Charles streetcar line and convenient to Canal Street and other areas.

Our reservation confirmation, made directly with Best Western, showed total charges including taxes and fees that were $40 less than what the hotel attempted to charge us. The carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed (there were visible pieces of dirt), and two light fixtures in the room did not function. We reported the issues after our first night, and they were not corrected by the second. The staff was unapologetic, and the bill was adjusted only after an extended argument. In addition, the air conditioner was extremely loud when it cycled on, and the valet parking took about 45 minutes to bring our car.

Horrible hotel, other than the location. Old (needs renovation badly). Smells. Dirty, e,g. Hair in the bathtub, stained towels. Bathtub is unsafe. Not what I expect of a Best Western. Addition September 22. We asked to be moved to a better room and we were. This was appreciated. However, Blake Hotel is a tired worn out building; not too clean, chipped paint, low lighting, poor coffee, skimpy towels. The only positive is the location which is excellent. It is not representative of the many other Best Westerns we have stayed in. O
