We were excited to try this local gem. The staff were kind and helpful in explaining the menu. We ordered the momos, walnut cauliflower, kaldereta (lamb), sinaing (skate wing), ube ko achar, and for dessert, the silvanas and cheddar ice cream. Overall, the flavors were just okay and didn’t quite live up to the hype or reflect a strong signature style. That said, a few items stood out, particularly the ube ko achar and the desserts. The ube ko achar was a unique dish; you don’t often come across ube gnocchi, and it offered something different. The silvanas were nicely balanced and not overly sweet. The cheddar ice cream absolutely blew us away - the combination of cheddar and parmesan with the sweetness of the ice cream and a touch of olive oil was surprisingly well-balanced and memorable. I'd come back for the ice cream alone. Still, as a whole experience, it didn’t quite win us over. It was worth trying once.

Every single bite was magnificent. The portions are a bit smaller, but it’s very clear how much love and labor goes into every single dish. Got a chance to talk to Ravi and his wife Gloria, who have put in so much work to get this place off the ground. Always happy to support a local Astoria biz! Highlights: wagyu beef balls, duck, & parmesan ice cream!!!

Ramro is a Hidden Gem 💎 in Astoria, it’s been on our list to visit for a few months and we had the pleasure of checking it out on a Friday night. I recommend grabbing a reservation. We got one less then an hour before arriving. It’s an intimate dinning experience in a cosy bar/restaurant with small plates and tasty drinks. The Nepalese and Filipino dishes were excellent and filling. We wanted to try all of the appetizers and were impressed with the quality. A highlight for me was the fried clamasi cauliflower with walnuts. It was delicious. We loved the orange cream cocktail as well. It reminded me of a drink I had in Iceland last summer that was a signature of a local bar. Overall we loved Ramro, look forward to trying out more.

I’ve been wanting to come here for a long time but been pushing it off because I wasn’t too familiar with Filipino food and just by reading the menu didn’t give me a clear idea of what to expect. I’m glad we finally went because what really hooks you are the incredible flavors that cant be fully described. You have to come try it yourself. There seemed to be quite a few regulars during our visit. The restaurant is cozy and intimate with only 16 seats. Everything we had was good, but the trout really stood out. The skin was bursting with flavor despite appearing lighty seasoned. I believe it was torched, giving it a slightly crispy texture. The duck was also excellent, smoked and very tender. The duck fried rice was a chef’s kiss. Beef longganisa was another delicious dish. We will likely swap out momo and cauliflower for something else next time. Cannot wait to come back!
