When my daughter was 8 months old, she suddenly became very ill. Over several weeks, I sought help from three different hospitals in Florida as well as her primary doctor. Despite her worsening condition—difficulty breathing, refusing to eat or drink, no wet diapers, weight loss, and extreme fatigue—she was repeatedly diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Each time, I was reassured her lungs sounded clear and was sent home with prescriptions for suction devices, Tylenol, albuterol, and steroids. We eventually moved to Indiana, but her health continued to decline. By the time I brought her to Riley Children’s Hospital, she had dropped from 18 pounds to 14 pounds, had not reached her motor milestones, and sounded like she was struggling to breathe with every movement. Unlike the other facilities, the team at Riley listened, reviewed her full history, and performed a scope of her airway. That procedure revealed what had been overlooked for over a month: a foreign object lodged in her throat. Riley’s swift and thorough intervention saved her life. This experience has shown me both the devastating consequences of medical negligence and the lifesaving importance of thorough, compassionate care. I will always be grateful for Riley Children’s Hospital for giving my daughter the chance to grow, thrive, and live the life she deserves.

Everyone I met within Riley’s were just so helpful and if they didn’t know the answer, they would find the answer to my question and let me know as soon as possible. Everyone went above and beyond. Just made you feel welcomed and understood that it’s not just the child that deals with the situation but the whole family does, so they make sure everyone is taken care of. I wouldn’t take my child anywhere else but Riley’s. RN Lexi was just hands down amazing! She made not only my daughter feel comfortable but myself. I felt like she was apart of my family. She truly cares for her patients like they are apart of her own family. She always came in with a smile. Explained everything that she was going to do. Took her time with my daughter so she wasn’t in much pain and again, just amazing. RN Lexi and RN Riley both were amazing as so was all the other staff at Riley’s.

Absolutely the best children’s hospital. I just had my second child on the 22nd and again had the absolute best delivery experience. Didn’t think they could top the first one but my wife and I are again very very pleased and appreciative for the beautiful ladies and men that helped us through our quick delivery. The people here at this hospital better be getting the recognition they deserve, every single one of the great humans that we encountered I give my most deepest thanks to. I don’t recommend having your baby here I’m telling you to have your child here. Thanks again Riley for an amazing experience

I wanted to thank the amazing staff at the Riley ER and on the eighth floor, where my child was admitted. Very thankful for the quick acting nurses and respiratory team in the ER. We had an excellent pulmonary team actually being admitted who were quick to resolved and find answers for our son. We felt confident and reassured by these doctors and this team of providers. Thank you to all the staff for being so wonderful with my son who is pretty anxious and you helped him relax and feel cared for and loved. He’s only four and he’s still talking about his favorite nurses who took care of him. Thank you, Riley for Making sure you have the best staff possible and for continuing to give the best care to our children.
