When I first spoke with the Credit Union about moving my mortgage, they were attentive and promised superior individual service. As I began to use their bank though, the issues mounted. I was unable to complete basic e-transfers, bill payments were delayed, I was unable to transfer money to a credit card after 3pm, otherwise it would take 2-3 business days. Then came the extra billing, I was charged for paper statement fees my first month, despite having chosen electronic statements, and not having had any statement issued previously. When I spoke with the customer service agent they lied repeatedly about where the fee came from, then their supervisor told me that they could do a one time refund as a courtesy - but still could not explain why I was being charged fees. The whole organization seems to just guess and try to lie to customers to move on to the next. I expected that from the bigger banks, which was why I tried going with the Credit Union, sadly there's no difference in treatment, just a lower level of basic service and competence. Do yourself a favour, ignore their sales pitch it's the same as any other bank except they justify their poor systems by pretending to be a little guy who's working with you.

Get Gas? Account locked. Get a paycheque? Account locked , money put on hold. Beggining/End of the month bills? Sorry can't pay them account got locked after buying a coffee. This bank is ridiculous , my husband banks through here and we cant wait to switch him to my bank asap. Non stop reoccurring issue they keep saying "won't happen again"

Review specifically for Luke Coleman, our mortgage advisor. Moving to Red Deer from Halifax and buying our home before arriving required a lot of remote paperwork and coordination of how to set all that up without a branch being in place. Luke was able to get that all set up for us in advance of our trip down, helped keep us informed of the full process and put up with a lot of back-and-forth and calling from myself and my wife as we finalized the full process. It was a much smoother process than with other banks I have gotten a mortgage from, which is impressive considering I couldn't come in in person until it was already done! Luke was professional, friendly and kept us up to date and informed throughout the entire process. Can't ask for more!
