SMA case 407373781 - SUNNY TRIPOWER CORE1 STP 50-40 Extremely Disappointed – SMA’s Customer Service is a Complete Failure I am beyond frustrated and disappointed with SMA. My inverter has been down for over two months, and despite the product still being under warranty, I have received absolutely no real solution. All I’ve experienced is endless back-and-forth communication, where they keep asking for the same information repeatedly, even though I’ve already provided all required documentation and proof multiple times. As an installer and reseller of solar equipment, I used to highly recommend SMA as a premium, reliable brand. That is no longer the case. What’s the point of paying top dollar for a so-called high-end product if the after-sales support is completely non-existent? Their customer service is appalling – messages go unanswered for weeks, and when they finally respond, it’s like starting from scratch all over again. This isn’t just poor service – it’s a total failure to honor their warranty and responsibilities. After waiting far too long with no solution, I was forced to replace the inverter at my own expense with another brand – and unsurprisingly, it is working perfectly fine. I should never have had to go through this – especially not with a product that’s still under warranty. I am honestly shocked at how little they seem to care about their customers. If you’re considering SMA, I urge you to look elsewhere. A warranty means nothing if the company refuses to act on it. I will never recommend SMA again to my clients or industry partners. P.S. This review will only be deleted or edited if SMA finally takes responsibility and resolves my issue. Until then, this reflects my honest and extremely disappointing experience.

I have had 2 SMA Sunny Tripower inverters for four years in Jamaica. In this time I have had 3 replaced and a fourth has just died. Each time it has taken a long time to have these replaced under warranty. At this point my installer has suggested to abandon these SMA inverters, which are still under warranty, and replace them with another brand, since I lose too much in down time and duties and taxes with the replacements. Very disappointed. Finally got rid of these SMA inverters! Still under warranty! VERY disappointed😟

SMA Solar Users & Installers - please be aware that if a Firmware update is run – you are not able to reinstall the previous version ! So if your unfortunate enough like we are our, since 16th May 2024 (version 4.04.11.R updated) that our SMA SB6.0-10 no longer works as it should – thanks to SMA one way Firmware policy. Having just seen what CrowdStrike chaos unfolded last Friday – it only takes one simple typo and your system could be next. It’s very short sited of SMA not to allow Installers to be able to recovery from such issues. We are still awaiting a fix 2+ months on, and is costing our client dearly. When all we needed to do short term would be to reinstall version 4-04-03-R whilst SMA works through the problem. It’s not rocket since ….. so you have been warned. So SMA Reply to our 1 star review 31st July. We contacted this Media team on the 9th July, 2 weeks before posting this review to ask who we needed to raise a formal complaint, as there is still no resolve to the issue and still no reply from the media team with contact details for the complaints department! We have also message the CEO of SMA via Linked in and heard nothing to date - This issue as of the 31st July 2024 has still not be resolved !

I have 3 inverters from SMA. All installed in 2016. 2 have not had problems. However, the largest has been replaced 3 times. We have waited approximately 3 weeks so far on our 4th inverter. It is a Sunny Boy SB7.7-1sp-us-40 and has failed the last two times during peak production causing us to loose a significant amount of production. Reputable installer. Says they have had problems recently and are trying to find other inverter companies to use. I emailed SMA a week ago as of 8/25/2020 and still have not had a response. Very frustrated.
