Customer experiences
The dinner menu was very promising, with exciting options. The execution (we had the lamb and chicken burger) was just ok. The greens on the lamb took 3 hours to chew. The sauce was excellent. Not bad overall for Peterborough, just nothing I'd race back for. Friendly, fast service. So cold inside the restaurant we had to keep our coats on. Weirdly, coffee was excellent and the ginger cookie it came with was delightful...probably shouldn't have been the highlight but hey.
The food here is fantastic! Great portion sizes and very reasonable prices as well. There was also a good amount of vegetarian and pescatarian options. We had a vegetable sandwich, fried brussels sprouts (highly recommend!), and chocolate spearmint crème brûlée. All the food was great. Good atmosphere and our sever was very attentive as well. Will definitely be coming back!
We came here for lunch as it was the most popular recommendation for a good restaurant in Peterborough. My wife and I had the St. Veronus Club. It was possibly the best club sandwich I've had. Portions were hefty, roast turkey was tender and juicy, the bread was crispy, and the salad was fresh. Service was stellar, friendly and proactive, making sure we had lots of water. Our server even read our minds and brought a takeout container for my wife without us asking. Excellent experience all around.
That has become one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always so unique compared to what you would find elsewhere. The atmosphere is also lovely and comfortable. Definitely recommend the brussel sprouts, King badouin soup, winter salad and meatballs. Their Belgian frites are also excellent and their beer menu is extensive. I do wish they would bring back the vegetarian poutine and soup dekonick though!
St Veronus Cafe and Tap Room is a pub.
