Sharing My Experience as a Company Driver I’ve worked as a company driver at STL for about three years, gaining a variety of experiences along the way. Through this review, I hope to help new drivers better adapt to the company while fostering mutual understanding and stronger relationships. A Driver’s Perspective If you’re considering joining STL as a company driver, I can confidently recommend it. Is STL a perfect company? To be honest, I don’t believe any company is perfect. However, what sets STL apart is its commitment to basic trust and responsibility toward its drivers. The company does not make illegal demands, force unsafe working conditions, or leave drivers to handle vehicle issues with outdated equipment on their own. For me, these fundamental principles are enough to work with confidence and achieve my goals here. That said, challenges and unexpected problems can arise on the job. From a driver’s perspective, it can feel frustrating when the company isn’t able to resolve issues immediately. Especially when you’re stuck on the highway in a difficult situation and support isn’t immediately visible, you may feel like you’re being left to deal with everything on your own. However, this frustration may sometimes come from misunderstanding the efforts the company is making behind the scenes to resolve the issue. The Dedication of STL Staff The dedication of STL’s staff is something worth highlighting. Fleet managers work tirelessly, often day and night, to resolve vehicle issues. Other departments ensure drivers can work safely and efficiently by maintaining strong backup systems. However, from a driver’s perspective, these efforts may not always be visible. The stress and fatigue drivers experience can sometimes lead to the feeling that the company is neglecting them. In such situations, I encourage drivers to pause and ask themselves: “Is this issue truly unfair, or am I overreacting due to stress?” Advice for New Drivers To drivers who are joining STL, I have a few small pieces of advice. If you uphold basic responsibilities, you’ll find it easy to maintain a good relationship with the company. • Avoid illegal parking and keep truck stops clean. • Do not separate the tractor and trailer without company approval. • Take thorough PTI photos, and ensure tire inspections and PM services are completed on time. These simple actions help build trust between you and the company. If you do your part, the company will reciprocate with better support and treatment. Final Thoughts Reflecting on my time at STL, there have been challenging moments, but I’ve been able to grow thanks to the efforts and support of many people here. STL is a company where drivers and staff can grow together through mutual understanding. I hope this review helps new drivers and staff alike.
