This is our family’s second review of this hospital. We are posting again to further document what occurred during my father’s stay and to share additional details and photos that could not be fully included previously. Our experience with this hospital during my father’s illness was deeply distressing and ultimately heartbreaking. My father was admitted for low oxygen levels and severe abdominal pain after spending nearly a year trying to determine the cause of ongoing symptoms, including extreme weight loss, fatigue, nausea, and vomiting. During that year, this hospital—along with Mountain View Hospital and multiple outpatient providers—continued ordering CT scans and sent him home with a diagnosis of gastritis. In total, my father underwent approximately 20 CT scans. While imaging is important for diagnosis, repeated scans exposed him to significant radiation, and each scan continued to show the same finding: thickening of the small intestinal wall. Despite this persistent finding and worsening symptoms, no one ordered or suggested further targeted testing of the small intestine, such as a capsule (swallow) endoscopy. Crohn’s disease was ruled out, and standard endoscopy and colonoscopy were performed (came back clean), but these tests do not adequately evaluate the small intestine. Unfortunately, the underlying cause was not identified until it was too late. My father was eventually diagnosed with stage 4 small intestinal cancer, and he has since passed away. In addition to concerns about delayed diagnosis and lack of coordination between specialists, the inpatient experience itself was extremely poor. From the ER onward, we experienced long wait times (over 10 hours) despite available rooms. Communication between providers was minimal, and no one clearly explained what to expect, next steps, or how serious the situation was. There were also significant issues with basic care and sanitation. My father developed an Enterobacter cloacae complex infection during his stay. We observed unsanitary conditions, including soiled wipes left in open trash bins for extended periods. A nurse accidentally tripped over his catheter, causing him severe pain, and another incident resulted in a TV remote striking his head. Basic comfort measures, such as assistance with bathing, were not offered until we requested them. Constant IV alarm beeping often went unattended, adding unnecessary stress for a very ill patient. This was a traumatic experience for my father and our family. The lack of communication, lack of coordination between specialists, and failure to pursue appropriate follow-up testing after repeated abnormal imaging findings are deeply concerning. I have posted photos documenting the cleanliness issues in the room and how items were routinely left by staff. In my opinion, proper cleanliness and infection-control protocols may have reduced the risk of my father developing a hospital-acquired infection. I am sharing this review so others can be informed and advocate strongly for themselves and their loved ones—especially when imaging repeatedly shows abnormal findings and symptoms continue without answers. Please do your own research and demand proper testing including PET scans. Here are pictures below indicating my deep concern.

This was hands down an amazing experience. From the admitting team, Angelica was kind and informative. My pre-op nurses were amazing. I was in room 689 and the staff could not of been more welcoming. From PT to my daytime nursing staff to my evening crew to my physician Dr. Haq, who went over everything with me explaining in detail made sure I fully understood he was even putting in orders in at 5am. I wanted to be home for Super Bowl and it easily happened. The food was tasty and the hospital was very clean. I’m grateful to my surgeon who put everything in place Dr.Grigoriev who performed my surgery at Summerlin hospital. Felt like I was on a vacation by the way the staff, treated me. Big shout out to Rita Garcia who made me and my husband laugh and we shared our love for a good espresso!!❤️❤️

Had a full hysterectomy yesterday and it was such a smooth and easy process. I was also taken such good care of by my nurses. Ruby Rose in pre-op, Connie in recovery, and Tim A. in my post-op room. They were all so help full and amazing! And of course, my doctor, Dr. Kirsten Rojas was amazing! Thank you all!

This was easily one of the worst emergency room experiences I've ever had! The admitting staff were okay, not a ton of care or concern but they were at least efficient! But the triage doctor and nurse were far from empathetic and had horrible bed side manner. My provider was James Ramseier MD, he was extremely condescending and rude. All of his responses were coated in a tone of irritation and he made me feel like I was wasting his time. My nurse Matt was equally callous. He showed no regard for my comfort level while I waited for hours in pain. Matt was more focused on comforting his co-workers as they all complained about how busy the ER was at the time and how they couldn't wait until their shift was over. As the patients are waiting for care for hours with no updates from anyone. They talked loudly amongst themselves, joking and caring on in laughter. While, if any patient asked for help or checked on any updates they were told to go sit down, like being reprimanded as if we were children. The entire experience was incredibly disappointing and I will tell anyone and everyone I can that Summerlin hospital is one of the worst Emergency rooms in Las Vegas!
