Steph ToddI've been here a couple of times when I stay at the hotel next door, with mixed experiences. Service is consistently pleasant enough, and the atmosphere enjoyable. I previously had the pie and was disappointed; it was very overcooked with rock hard puff pastry and the inside was rather dried up. The lamb shank on my next visit, however, was tender and delicious. The vegetables that come with each dish left a lot to be desired.

The service was friendly but it was slow, despite there being lots of staff most were walking past the table and in huddles at the bar, i.e. not taking order, not clearing table and not checking in Food was expensive, looked well presented but something was "off" with every dish for example the Italian meat pizza was just a magerita pizza with cold meats put on afterwards and was missing the rocket. The pie and mash didn't come with gravy aswell as the smallest mash portion ever and the meat had a funny twang to the taste. The lasagna had a similar twang but the garlic bread was hard and inedible. For the coat of £100 for a family of 4 I expected alot more
Barbara WillcocksSummer 2023... Took friends out to lunch as a thank you. The food was delicious, hot, nicely presented and a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and smart without being overbearing. Don't think we've ever had a bad meal here. Went out for a birthday meal October '24 Excellent meal, mushrooms in melted cheese x 2, Sea bass with crispy potatoes, peas, broad beans and broccoli, Steak, chips and salad, 2 X apple and blackberry crumble and custard (forgot to photograph). Yummy. Meal was well presented, hot and filling. Staff very friendly.
Dean C ThomasI've visited here in the past, while staying at the hotel next door. Last time the food was really good so I was looking forward to revisiting the venue. Rather disappointed this time round, yesterday I had the chicken burger which was nice but the fries were cold, and included a more of the crispy bits than fries, today I tried the hunters chicken schnitzel, this was dry and extremely hot, as if it had been microwaved, the cheese and bacon were dry and rubbery and once again the chunky chips were cold. As for the service, the waitresses are very pleasant but not very attentive, I've been sitting here for 30 mins with an empty glass no-one has asked if I would like a refill.
