Customer experiences
I had my first visit to the Estuary Spa at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina and booked a prenatal massage with Kristine—it was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, Kristine made me feel completely comfortable and cared for. Her professionalism and gentle approach immediately put me at ease. The massage table was incredibly modern and supportive—it was heated and had the option to incline or shift me into a seated position, which was perfect for pregnancy. The pillows were so comfortable, and the sheets were soft and luxurious. Kristine took the time to ask what kind of oil I preferred and was happy to use my own lavender oil, which made the experience even more personalized. I also added on the scalp enhancement and facial massage, and both were absolutely amazing. I didn’t want to get up from the table! This was one of the most relaxing and nurturing experiences I’ve ever had. I highly recommend Kristine to anyone looking for a high-quality massage—whether prenatal or not.
My husband and I had a wonderful couples massage with Nancy and Grace! This was the best massage we had since moving to SC five years ago. The spa was tranquil and the perfect setting to relax. The choices of add on services and oils were great. Both masseuses were very caring and knew exactly what we needed making this experience personalized. I recommend Nancy and Grace for anyone wanting the best massage!
Buyer Beware: Hidden Charges and Automatic Gratuity We were surprised by several unexpected charges during our visit. At check-in, we were given a form to select our preferred pressure level—light, medium, or firm. What wasn’t clear was that choosing medium or firm pressure would result in an additional charge. While this was apparently noted in the fine print of the booking confirmation, it was not mentioned on the form itself, even though other add-ons were listed with prices. No price was listed next to the pressure options. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity was automatically added at checkout—raising our $280 couples massage to $370. I always tip for good service, but the automatic gratuity without any discussion felt presumptuous and left a bad taste. I get massages regularly, and this entire experience just felt off. Disappointing.
My husband booked an 80-minute couples massage during our stay at the Beach Club. The environment was calm and relaxing. The massage therapist I had was wonderful and followed all of my preferences - my massage was fabulous. Unfortunately, my husband's experience was much different. He requested light-moderate pressure and ended up needing help getting off the table because he felt like his muscles were rearranged. He told the woman working on him several times to lighten up - she would temporarily, then continued to dig in. He ended up being bruised and extremely sore. After the massage, he let her know how uncomfortable her technique was and she shared that she uses her thumbs everywhere. My husband shared that this was the most painful massage he's ever had. I would definitely return, but he certainly would not.
The Estuary Spa at The Beach Club Charleston is a spa.
