Sarah is the WORST! I usually go to The Glam Room in the River Market area and have always had good experiences there. My regular stylist recently left, so I decided to try someone new. I booked an appointment with Sarah because she’s listed as a level 4 stylist, so I assumed I’d be in good hands. I clearly told her I wanted my hair cut to chin length. As soon as she finished the initial cut, before doing any layers, I knew something was wrong. My right side was just under my chin, and the left side was around my mouth, at least a one-inch difference. When I pointed it out, she started making excuses about the comb being wrong and even asked if I sleep on my left side. I said no, I sleep on the right. She kept making excuses instead of taking accountability, and never once apologized or admitted she messed up. When she was done and tried to send me on my way, my hair looked awful, like a mushroom. I had to point out the uneven parts myself and ask her to fix them. After a frustrating back and forth, it looked slightly more normal, but still not great. I was literally crying while checking out. The woman at the front desk was kind and gave me a hair oil to help with growth, which I really appreciated. I was so upset about the length and unevenness that I didn’t notice other issues until I got home: like a huge chunk missing from the right side. My hair has never looked this bad. I’ve been wearing a hat whenever I go out, but I can’t wear one to work. I don’t feel confident going anywhere and still cry when I look in the mirror. If you don’t want to go through this kind of nightmare, do not book with Sarah.

I have been so impressed with The Glam Room South! The receptionist is an absolute sweetheart! She is so friendly and always offers drinks and snacks. My stylist, Alaina, listens but also gives me her professional opinion, which I appreciate. My hair has never looked/felt better! The salon is very pretty and relaxing. I definitely look forward to my appointments!

A few weeks ago I had an “oopsie” and tried to cut my own hair. I was desperately trying to make a same day appointment anywhere I could, and The Glam Room South had multiple same day appointments available. I went to a level 1 stylist and she fixed it so quickly and nicely. It was very affordable, too, since they didn’t charge me the full service since I just had her cut it dry. I was in and out within 15 minutes and was very happy with how my hair looked after.

Upon arrival, the staff at the front desk greeted me immediately, and offered me a drink. This was my first time at the salon (but it won’t be my last), as I’ve traditionally gone to barbershops. That being said, these days my hair is much much longer so I opted to try something new. Following my check in, I was introduced to my stylist Olivia who took a brief moment to consult with me on what I wanted and what my hair needed as well. Overall, the haircut turned out great, the experience was pleasant from end to end and I’d recommend Olivia and the shop to anyone.
