The Half Moon

We stopped by The Half Moon on the way home from Sky Park Farm. It was a busy carpark so assumed it must be popular and therefore hopefully really good. Nice bar area, which we stuck to. There were a couple of big parties going on so didn't venture any further in. Nice choice of drinks and a good range of food on the menu. We did arrive at 2.10 and the kitchen closed at 2.30, so I think this may be why our meal wasn't quite what we hoped it would be. We ordered a sharing Camenbert and then a burger and a brie, bacon and cranberry roll. Sadly all the food arrived at once, although not sure why. So the mains went back, then the same meals were brought to us half an hour later when we had to let the staff know we'd finished the starter and were ready for the main. They'd clearly been reheated and my brioche roll was rock solid, so it did get sent back and they did make me a new one. My friend suffered through her warmed up burger. Service was OK, but it did seem as though we were having to ask for everything ourselves. A shame really because it looked like a really popular place to go and had good reviews. Beautifully decorated for the festive season and some tempting looking events were being advertised. Would probably go back but it's a shame this visit had a few negative.

I and my husband lodged at the half moon after our retreat . The ambience was so wonderful , our room was exquisite and the food was so good . The staff were amazing. Daisy, olie , evonne , katie and paul were so all smiles and all welcoming . The bed was so comfy i slept like a baby. The battered fish and chips was so good i almost licked my plate. All in qll , we had an amazing Mwonderful and worthwhile stay. We would definitely visit again.

We had a family celebration here with Sunday lunch and can not compliment the team enough. From our first email contact through sorting menu choices and finally the day at all times Chris was amazing and on the day Katie and the team looked after us so well and could not have offered a better service. On top of this it was exceptional value for money. Plenty of space in the function area lots of on site parking and outside space as well. 5 stars is not enough
