The Hampshire Hog, Clanfield

Really good value hotel, rooms are exceptionally equipped and high end fixtures/fittings. Free round of drinks on arrival was appreciated, and the included breakfast was very good, would happily pay 20 quid for that alone. For 100£ a night price point it provides extremely good value. Last time I was in the area I paid 90 quid for a premier inn/travelodge, and this place is vastly superior and just down the road. Be aware check in only available til 21:30, that almost caught me out.

We have stayed at the Hog many times and have always found the stay wonderful. This time the stay was disappointing because of the food but the staff and the rooms are exceptional.|The rooms have all been refurbished since our last stay. They are all beautifully decorated and the beds super comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and warm. Fluffy towels but no shower caps or other complementary small items. |The evening meal and breakfast however was disappointing. In the evening I had pork fillet wrapped in pancetta which came to the table pink in the middle and not cooked through. My other half had the venison sausages which were overcooked. Breakfast continued to be disappointing with the bacon being so hard it was unable to be cut or even chewed. It had clearly been precooked and reheated to get like this. I have never had bacon that was so hard. |The staff are amazing, all very friendly and helpful. A very special shout out to Lily at breakfast on Thursday she was a breath of fresh air and lovely. |We will stay again but as our favourite bar manager Connor will be moving to another fullers soon we may go there! |Merry Christmas all
