We had such a great meal here. Every dish was good but the duck confit in particular was great. The wine was good and service was polite. The actual dining area is beautifully put together with nice memorabilia on the old pub facade. Very reasonable value given the quality of food. This was a real treat.

Wonderful old world pub with great atmosphere. Food is excellent. The very comfortable rooms are well furnished and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could wish for. A mixture of modern facilities and retro design in the rooms. Super comfortable bed! The historic buildings and the pub itself are full of old memorabilia| which we loved. Service is extremely friendly. A great experience!

One of my favourite pubs anyway so I always try to look in when in Winchester, even if only for a quick drink. A bonus that they serve my favourite beer, Gales HSB (Horndean Special Brew). Very well kept here as well, served at perfect temperature. Look out for the old school desks from the public school next door, repurpossed for the pub.
