Timbrell's Yard

The service was great. Our main contact- Olivia combines almost incompatible qualities of professionalism, friendliness, service and attention to detail. We didn't deal with the rest of the people there as much, but they did not disappoint. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. There were some nice touches like a radio playing classic FM - very relaxing, nice tea and milk in room. The cups for tea/coffee were a good size, important for the first cup of the morning. The room was too hot, but turning the radiator off made it comfortable. We had 10 relatives for lunch, who had travelled some way to get there, all were happy with the food and experience. We are thinking of making this a regular venue to get together.

We had an enjoyable stay the decor in the hotel and the rooms have some quirky ideas which makes it a memorable place to stay. The food was excellent. A friend came to see us and had lunch which she thought was great too, (we were too full from breakfast to have lunch).The hotel is in a lovely position and Bradford on Avon is an interesting place All the staff were welcoming and friendly.

We had a really disappointing stay in room 301 which is one of the River Walk rooms. We’d upgraded for the larger bed and the view of the river. We found the room very dark with a musty smell in the bathroom, probably due to lack of ventilation. The bottom of the windows are slightly frosted for privacy which is great but you only get a view of the river if you stand up and look over the top of the frosting.||So despite these issues we hoped to have a nice evening. Sadly room 301 is right next to the dining room so we had the noise of tables and chairs being moved until late and then starting again at 7am. The bed was not comfortable and not what I’d expect from a £175 room. There felt like exposed springs half way down and when I pulled the sheet and protector back the mattress was stained and indeed had very prominent springs. We both slept badly but thought we’d get up and shower before breakfast, this wasn’t possible as the shower had two temperatures, scorching and freezing. We abandoned the showers and went to breakfast. Unfortunately the issues continued with my partner getting covered in ink where it appears a pot used for spoons had been previously used to store a leaking pen so his hands and a brand new shirt got ink on them. The final issue which was minor but frustrating was to have two salt grinders at breakfast even though one was marked as pepper. ||We got to the point of laughing because otherwise we’d have cried! On the plus side the staff were lovely, especially the waitress at breakfast who was one of the most cheerful we’ve come across. Breakfast was lovely. Our concerns were listened too, the ,manager came to the room to see the issues with the bed and shower. The room was comped and we left feeling they had dealt well with a bad situation. The staff all seemed to be overstretched and managing the best they can. I’ve attached a picture of the mattress so if you have a bad sleep in room 301 you at least know if they have acted on our feedback. The 2 I’ve scored are for the staff not the experience!
