Saltie Girl in Boston came highly recommended by a local friend as one of the best spots for a lobster roll, so as a tourist, it felt like a necessary stop. I ordered the hot lobster roll while my partner went for the cold roll, and the difference was clear—the hot roll was significantly better, with buttery, tender lobster that made it the standout. However, the cost was hard to ignore. Listed at market price and with the addition of truffle fries, the final bill for the roll came out to $46, which felt steep even for a premium seafood spot. We also tried some oysters, which were fresh and briny but not shucked particularly well. More than once, I had to spit out bits of shell, which took away from the experience. The restaurant’s location is convenient, and the interior is well-designed, with a cozy atmosphere and decor that ties into its history. However, the space is quite compact, and seating felt a bit tight. Service was adequate—efficient but nothing that stood out. Overall, Saltie Girl was a good experience but not one I’d go out of my way to revisit. The food was enjoyable, but given the price and minor flaws, I’d probably explore other seafood spots if I find myself back in Boston.
My husband took me here for the first time for my birthday. We enjoyed everything we ordered. I love picking apart fish, so the Halibut Collar was a great dish for me. The scallop was exceptionally good! We got the pistachio tiramisu for dessert and it wasn’t too sweet! Just sweet enough that I can still taste other flavors. Overall a great experience!
Lobster roll with a side salad were delicious and so was the clam chowder. We ordered a small plate of fried clams and they were okay, so we asked for them to be replaced with calamari which was done without a problem and clams were taken off the bill. We enjoyed the stylish, charming atmosphere and service here.
