I want to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible care my 93-year-old father received in the ICU. From the moment we arrived, every member of his care team showed extraordinary compassion, skill, and respect. Dr. Aayush Patel, DO explained my father’s heart condition in a way that helped me truly understand his abilities. Dr. Andrew Nutting, MD knelt to speak to us with honesty and empathy, acknowledging our emotional journey and my father’s faith. Dr. Jessie Harvey, MD and medical student Nicki Relan were patient, kind, and responsive during imaging and emergencies. Dr. Lyba Naseer, MD kept us informed, offered emotional support, and went above and beyond to help with paperwork. Dewayne Donahoo, Echo Tech treated my father with dignity, speaking to him and offering prayers that touched our hearts. James Corbin, RT communicated with my father even while he was unable to speak, showing incredible empathy. Finally, the nursing team—Kristy Womack, RN; Sarah Kaitlin Clegg, RN; Megan Keyes, RN; and student nurse Mary Walker—were amazing, showing compassion, patience, and dedication throughout my father’s care. I have nominated them for The DAISY Award, as they exemplify extraordinary nursing care. Our family will never forget the humanity, professionalism, and kindness shown by this entire MICU team.
I was sent to the ER for a direct admission per my doctor. I waited and waited to no avail. I was told that I had a room but it was given to another patient. They say that this is the best hospital in the state but I don't agree. This hospital treats you , as if you're at Baptist Hospital on State Street. You try to ask questions and the nurses act like you're bothering them. The ER hasn't been in good standing since Dr Alan Jones left that department. If the doctors and nurses don't care, then why are we going there. I will be looking for another provider very soon.
After being transferred multiple times and given over six different phone numbers, I was feeling frustrated trying to get MyChart access linked for my son. Thankfully, I was connected with Charles from the UMMC Access Center—and he was absolutely phenomenal. Charles remained calm, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. He communicated clearly, kept me informed every step of the way, and most importantly, resolved the issue efficiently. His patience and dedication truly stood out, and he turned a stressful situation into a positive experience. Charles that works at UMMC Access Center deserves major recognition—and honestly, a raise! Thank you, Charles, for your exceptional service and for going above and beyond.
It’s a shame my cities hospital hired/allowed such a person as Dr. Sarah E. Thompson DO to work with them. I have never met a doctor in my 41 years of life with such little compassion or care for their patients. Well I say “their patients”, but hopefully she doesn’t have many other than me that had to suffer through her care. Where do we start? The dismissal of my assessment of my health, her pompous attitude, her down right hateful demeanor? Please save your time and money and find yourself a doctor that actually cares. This is a big hospital with lots of doctors so maybe you’ll be luckier than I was. Not sure if she sees patients at a clinic around the area as well, but I’ll be sure to look into it and leave a review there to make people aware. In a time with the world so divided you would think you could trust the doctors looking after you… guess not. 1 STAR TO SARAH E THOMPSON DO, shame on you.
