Tried the lamb popsicles, “better” butter chicken, samosa, rice pudding, naan, and cocktails. The lamb was high-quality and flavorful, though the sauce was thin and yogurt-forward. The butter chicken was clean and organic, but too westernized for my taste. Samosa was the standout — crisp, well-spiced, and delicious. Rice pudding was light and satisfying. Cocktails were generous and well made. Service was excellent — attentive staff and a manager who genuinely cares. 💸 Price-wise, very reasonable. You’re getting a full dine-in experience in a beautiful space, with thoughtful food and great hospitality. In today’s world where a basic sandwich costs 10-20$, this felt like excellent value. If you’re after bold, traditional flavors, this may not be it. But for a clean, upscale Indian meal — Vij’s stands out.

I would rate this experience as an exceptional one when it comes to food flavors and service in the entire North American. The owner Chef Vikram Vij personally welcomed us and the food is prepared fresh by an all women team. For starters we had: 1. Vegetarian Spring Rolls 2. Paneer Momos 3. Crispy chicken with a special sauce 4. Jackfruit Sheekh Kebabs Entrees: 1. Paneer Kofta curry with special Naans 2. Fish in a gravy 3. Lamb chops marinated for 19 hours in a special wine and fenugreek sauce. 4. Vegetables Biryani Dessert: Hot Gulab Jamun Creamy Malai Kulfi with Rose petals All ingredients used are local that are grown within the radius of 40 miles of the restaurant and the prices are great value for one. Decor is nice and can take upto 190 persons. Highly recommended if you are in Vancouver.

I was really looking forward to trying Vij’s after hearing so much buzz — the service and atmosphere truly lived up to the reputation. The staff were attentive, warm, and made the experience feel special from the moment we arrived. The space itself is beautiful, modern, and welcoming. That said, the food just didn’t land for me. I ordered the better butter chicken, and what I received was watery, under-seasoned, and lacked the richness and depth of flavor that typically defines the dish. When I asked about it, I was told that this was how it’s traditionally made — but after checking in with Indian friends, they all strongly disagreed. It felt like I was being gaslit into thinking I misunderstood a dish I’ve had many times before. In general, the flavors throughout the meal felt muted and overly westernized — not necessarily inauthentic, but lacking the boldness, warmth, and complexity I associate with great Indian cuisine. For the price point, I expected much more in terms of flavor and execution. I really wanted to love it, and I respect the concept and the legacy of the restaurant. But unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. Amazing service and ambiance, but the food didn’t justify the hype — or the bill. Great hospitality, underwhelming food.

I saw it was rated somewhat best in town with Michillen logo. It was a weekend dinner and place was packed. Chef are nice and help out around the restaurant as well greeting us etc. Service and atmosphere were great. Looks great for dating and casual dinner. Food. I got recommendations from the very nice waitress and order the perfect portions for us However, the taste or quality isn’t what I expected. Honestly I am not Indian and I am comparing to what I had tried around the globe on the taste. Seems not as tasty as I thought. The crackers are pretty much gonna expire taste The chicken is too rough and touch. Spices is good by the way. Just one of them are too salty to me. The main is the goat curry with bread and rice. The curry isn’t the flavor I was looking at. Bread is a bit over toasted Well, I can only say may be this is the taste of other parts of India as I know when I work in India that the taste and spices are different in different parts of the country. So, that’s about it. I gave this as comparison to the other 2 Indian place I had in Vancouver which is in Granville street. Thanks

Vij's is a indian restaurant.
