When planning our business trip, the booking process with Vulture Africa Safaris was very personalized and the staff were really knowledgeable and helpful about which camps to stay at and what kind of activities to do while on safari. They had a lot of helpful information that came in handy and recommendations to help us prepare for our Africa trip. Thank you for being available to answer the tons of questions we had.

Safari trips are understandingly expensive, and I never thought I’d be able to afford to go. But I researched anyway and found this 3 day trip that was relatively affordable. So the price was a big reason I took this holiday. The guys picked us up at the airport early am of the trip; they made an extra effort because we’d come from kisumu that morning. A quick meet up in their office, to pay, and we got in the safari vehicle for the long trip. A couple of the seats had seen better days and weren’t super comfortable. Stopped for a decent long lunch, chilled and left unbothered by anybody. So the journey wasn’t bad at all. Wasn’t expecting too much of the accommodation, it was budget after all, but yeah it was fine. Comfy beds with mosquito nets, and a simple toilet, shower, sink, and electricity. Already that’s more than you should expect on a safari in Kenya! There was a bar in the restaurant, and the food was basic Kenyan, which ran out pretty early so make sure you get to meals first. The safari itself was great. Our driver and guide, CASTRO, was a dude, very chill and accommodating. He found all the animals and got up close and personal. Lots of similar vehicles crowding round, but we were all there for the same reason, and there was an acceptance that it was either this way or no way. And it was almost nice to observe other people’s reactions in other vehicles, as they themselves observed you. Masai village was cool, obviously a tourist trap but hey. It was a pretty fun way to spend a bit of time before our long drive back to Nairobi (6 hours). Bring on a budget we felt bad we couldn’t spend much but we got a masai blanket, a hat, a few bracelets. Take some loose cash with you because there will be a few opportunities to get something from some locals doing their best to make a few shillings. Overall it was great. My 18 son loved it. Didn’t once feel ripped off or overcharged, and that’s a good reason to choose vulture safaris. If you want jacuzzis and 3 course dinners go elsewhere, but the actual safari experience is the same for us all (we saw the people on the expensive trips, Marriott etc, all driving around the same masai mara) and we were happy with that. I would do exactly the same thing again.

My original plan was to summit Kilimanjaro on January 1, 2025, but with a very tight schedule, I wasn’t sure how it would all come together. Fortunately, thanks to African Vulture Safaris and their amazing team, everything went smoothly, and I had an unforgettable adventure. The journey began with a landing in Nairobi, followed by a 4-day Mount Kenya trek (Sirimon to Chogoria route) just hours after arrival. After summiting Mount Kenya, I traveled to Arusha for a 3-day safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Once the safari ended, I immediately started a 7-day Kilimanjaro hike via the Lemosho route and successfully reached Uhuru Peak on January 1, 2025, just as planned. A big shoutout to Alvine, the tour advisor at African Vulture Safaris, for organizing every detail perfectly. Despite my packed schedule, every transition between activities was seamless, and there were no delays or issues. Special thanks to my Mount Kenya guide, Jimmy, who shared his vast knowledge about the mountain and took great care of me, especially when I felt jet-lagged on the second day. I’m also incredibly grateful to my Kilimanjaro guides, Issa and Estronine, whose professionalism and encouragement made summiting Uhuru Peak possible. If you’re planning to climb Mount Kenya, Kilimanjaro, or go on safari, I highly recommend African Vulture Safaris and their fantastic crew. They turned a challenging itinerary into the trip of a lifetime!
