Winn-Dixie is a southern staple but over the past several years it seems to have lost its reputation for high quality meats. Once advertised as "The Beef People" you can't even buy a USDA Prime steak at Winn-Dixie any longer. Another "beef" I have is that unlike PUBLICS, their BOGO selections don't allow for a purchase one item at half price. You have to select two for the price of one. Often, we don't need two of anything, especially cookies, popcorn, chips or other snacks. Finally, just as with many retailers after COVID, the selection is not what it was before 2020. I don't get any satisfaction criticizing Winn-Dixie. I when I was young (real young), it was the only grocery store in town and the meat selection and quality was great! Today, my wife insists on shopping at Publics so I only visit Winn-Dixie when I shop alone. Frankly, I shop there more for the nostalgic feelings than the selection and quality. BTW, The Winn-Dixie "points" expire fairly quickly so don't try to save them for a big grocery buy.

Winn-Dixie is on the opposite side of town for me. However, I always appreciate shopping at the Prattville location when I get the opportunity. It’s always so peaceful and clean, and I find great deals in the beef department every Friday. However, the reason I am taking my time to write a review on a grocery store is because of the outstanding customer service I received every time I go through the self checkout section and Andrea H. is working. I have gone into this store numerous times when I was anxious, depressed, and overwhelmed. Every time I see her, she’s smiling, friendly, patient, talkative. She brightens my day. She always remembers my face, and she makes me feel so welcomed and appreciated. Her genuine friendly personality sparkles through her smile, and my attitude is always positively impacted by my encounters with her. People like Andrea give this specific Winn Dixie location a “friendly small town neighbor” environment, and makes it by far, one of my favorite places to shop! Thank you so much for hiring employees like her. And thank you for all the wonderful weekly deals!

To observe purportedly biased customer service, visit Winn-Dixie in Prattville, AL. Some employees allegedly only greet white customers and avoid interacting with minority customers. However, Lauren, a cashier, was very helpful and nice.
