I recently started attending Wheelhouse. The music, workouts and vibes are definitely on point. Unfortunately, my low review comes from general instructor care and overall safety concerns. I have noticed that there is very little care and concern for newer riders. Focus is placed on creating “vibes” and momentum. My most recent class was my most disappointing. Although I struggled to adjust my seat height and to clip onto my bike, the instructor did not come to assist me at all. I was in the studio on time and trying to get on to my bike. The instructor switched off all the lights and started the music regardless. A gentleman noticed me struggling and kindly got out of his bike to assist me in the dark. He also checked on me periodically to see if I was okay. This is something that one would expect from the instructors themselves. I am left with a sense that rider safety is not a priority be it ergonomics or simply just making sure we are clipped in safe and securely. We learn from the instructors and are trusting them to show us how to workout. Most importantly, we are trusting them to show us how to workout safely and in a way that honours, protects and takes care of our bodies. One can get seriously injured on one of those bikes. I kindly ask that focus be placed on training the instructors on how to ensure everyone under their watch is ready to ride and safe before switching off the lights and turning up the music. We pay a lot of money to come and ride and it’s the least Wheelhouse can do. Asides this - great music (although too loud at times but hey) and great workouts! If I have misunderstood - please let me know. I’m not trying to bash Wheelhouse. The workouts are so fun and I really do enjoy them. I just feel a little concerned about safety and general instructor care. Thank you.

Wheelhouse has some of the best people, instructors and classes I've been to in Ottawa. The instructors ensure tailored and challenging classes to push and show up for yourself. They offer themed rides and playlists that never disappoint. I recently got into spin, and the studio has the perfect vibe to make you want to return for more. Whatever space you're in when you arrive, you leave feeling accomplished! Wheelhouse and Training Club are a great community to be a part of! I would recommend trying the intro pass. Two weeks and you'll be hooked!

I really wanted to love Wheelhouse, and while there are some great aspects, my experience has been mixed. The instructors bring great energy, and the workouts are solid, but there are a few things that have made it hard for me to fully enjoy the studio. First, the volume in classes is really loud—almost uncomfortably so. I appreciate high-energy music, but there were times when it felt overwhelming rather than motivating. It was so loud that I often struggled to hear the instructor’s cues, which made it difficult to follow along, especially as someone newer to the studio. I also found it frustrating that there are extra fees for things that seem like they should be included in the class price, like a $2 shoe rental. Small charges like this add up over time and since the bikes require clip-in shoes, you either have to rent theirs or invest in your own spin shoes with the right clips. I understand the need for proper footwear, but it would be nice if the rental was included in the drop-in or class pass price rather than an additional charge each time. Another thing that stood out was the strong scent of the towels. I love that they offer towels, but the detergent they use has a very strong fragrance, which isn’t ideal for those who are sensitive to scents or prefer unscented products. Lastly, the 10-class pass expiring is a disappointment. I’m grateful they extended mine for two months when I asked, but I believe class passes shouldn’t expire at all—especially when life gets busy. It can feel like you’re losing money if you don’t use them quickly enough. I appreciate the workouts and the community, and believe that some small changes could make a big difference in creating a more inclusive and accessible experience for everyone.

I’ve been going to Wheelhouse Cycle consistently for about two months now and it’s honestly been awesome. The energy in every class is amazing, the music is always on point, and the instructors each bring their own style, which keeps things fun and different every time. I look forward to going every day, and I’m already feeling way more fit. Super happy I was introduced to this place!
