Albert B. Chandler Hospital

Drs and nurses here have been great with my nephew and with his wife by explaining everything to her step by step (kept me from having to do it) however reason for rating of 3 stars is food is terribly expensive. I leave here tomorrow and will not be able to pay for her meals so what is she supposed to do while he is here? We live almost 4 hours away so she will be spending the night.

We got a hotel so my fiancé could be there on time for her surgery which we had to be there at 5:30 in the morning because we live over an hour away just to get registered and checked in just to be informed that the surgery got canceled but no one had called us or anything the people that told us that were extremely rude. They also already knew when we went to advance surgery but yet they never tried to call us. They also changed their story 3 times of why the surgeon couldn’t be there. We talked to the lady that registered her and she said they lied that if the surgery was canceled that it wouldn’t even let her register my fiancé in the computer. We were sent to another lady to tell her what happen and the surgeons manager reached out about 20 minutes ago and basically said there were just out 800 dollars between the hotel, fuel, food and child care for the day and not to mention lost wages for the day. She also said that all her other patient were informed but we were not. She said it wasn’t a requirement to get a hotel but then tells us she would do the same thing in our shows. This hospital is full of liars that have no interest in you whatsoever. They said they called and they did not there were extremely rude and disrespectful the lady that called us told us to kick rock that it wasn’t there problem that we didn’t get the surgery and then all our money were out for nothing. They wasted our time and money for nothing this surgery has been scheduled for 9 Months. This completely unacceptable and the fact that UK is multimillion dollar hospital that they can’t reimburse us 800 dollars because of there lazy staff that apparently can’t even pick a phone and call you. I would be ashamed to be associated with a place that screws a little family like us out of so much money. Do better UK

Me and my wife got to the hospital because her ovaries were hurting her really bad. We got there and they let us in and put our wristbands on, etc. We got there and they did an ultrasound, and a CT scan, also the nurses did some bloodwork on her. And it took them 2 HOURS TO GET HER VAIN, HOW DOES IT TAKE 2 HOURS TO CATCH A VAIN, IT SHOULD ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES, ALSO AFTER THE ULTRASOUNDS AND CT SCANS THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND HER OVARIES. Also they said they might have to check out her ovaries, but that never happened when she obviously needed them to be checked. After that they gave her some pain medicine and we sit there for 2 more hours and they admitted her for the night. We then got a room in the ER and we sit there for 12 HOURS, and the nurse that gave her pain medicine was very rude, the doctor that also came in there to tell her the game plan for her treatment was also rude and tried to tell her that she has to take birth control for her pain to go away. And she cannot take birth control because it caused her to bleed really bad every time she has had it and also almost killed her. Also said I had to stay outside of the room so the doctor can talk to her, but she’s my wife, why can’t I stay in the room while the doctor is in there? It’s my right. Then my wife told her she couldn’t take birth control or any form of birth control and then the doctor said “Then I guess you’re just going to be in pain then.” So therefore the doctor was also very rude! I’m no doctor but I know a doctor is suppose to to find other solutions for their patients whenever one solution doesn’t work! So after we got out the ER and went to the 7th floor they gave us a new nurse and our own room to stay for the night. Thankfully the new nurse we got was a lot nicer and took care of her whenever she would get sick. The same doctor came in there after a few hours of being in the room, and then she proceeded to say the same birth control nonsense and after she walked out of the room, we told the nurse we wanted a new doctor. After that we went to sleep and then the next morning we got a new nurse to escort us out of the building so they could let her out so that I could take her home. They had us in the hospital from Friday night at 10:30PM to Sunday morning at 10:00AM and they sent my wife home in pain and is STILL IN PAIN HAVING TO FIND ELSEWHERE TO GO. If you’re reading this please save yourself a headache if you’re trying to go to the ER if you’re trying to get emergency surgery. It’s not worth the wait. My wife obviously needed surgery on her ovaries performed again but instead they treated her like a drug seeker, will not recommend UK to anyone ever again!!
