I was referred to the CRR program at Back in Motion East Broadway through WorkSafeBC, and it was one of the most discouraging healthcare experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve filed a formal complaint through WorkSafe, but I’m also leaving this review to inform others who may be navigating the system for the first time. My rehab plan was not progressed for weeks, even though I repeatedly asked for changes. OT sessions with Trevor consisted of long PowerPoint presentations, no active engagement, and no meaningful discussion of my SMART goals. When I flagged concerns, I was dismissed and told to ā€œjust continue.ā€ The most upsetting part was how my actual injury was repeatedly downplayed. Trevor focused almost entirely on the idea that my pain was "just nervous system sensitivity." I had to constantly advocate for myself and even confirm with the sports medicine doctor that the injury was still structurally aggravated, which she agreed with. Being made to feel like my pain was in my head was frustrating and invalidating. Counselling, which was meant to support my mental health, wasn’t offered until Week 5, and when it finally happened, the session was rushed and deeply unprofessional. The environment felt more like a cold office than a therapeutic space (see picture), and the counsellor made assumptions about me that were both unfounded and inappropriate. The therapist’s empathy felt superficial, and her approach lacked professionalism, more like an underqualified school counsellor than a trained mental health professional. The facility itself is outdated and unhygienic: dirty carpets (see picture), broken equipment, and poor air quality due to unchecked chemical spray use. Despite therapists being on the floor, no one corrected my exercises when I did them incorrectly. Appointments often ran late or were rescheduled last minute. I was told by reception that the sports med doctor is ā€œalways lateā€ and ā€œthis isn’t her priority.ā€ My first WorkSafe team meeting wasn’t scheduled until Week 5 which is far too late in an 8-week program to implement any meaningful changes or course corrections. Since transferring to Lifemark Keefer Place, I’ve experienced what true rehabilitation should look like: responsive, professional, clean, and genuinely centred on client care. Sessions with the OT are scheduled in advance, run on time, and are engaging. I’m given practical tools I can actually use. I’ve also received passive physiotherapy, including IMS and other supportive treatments that were completely absent at Back in Motion. Mental health support began on Day 1 in Week 2, and the tools I received there have already been helpful. Most importantly, the staff listen, respect your time, and work with you to build a personalised plan based on your SMART goals. I’ve made more progress in two weeks at Lifemark than I did in five weeks at Back in Motion. Just because WorkSafeBC pays for your rehab doesn’t mean you have to accept substandard care. Advocate for yourself. Speak up. If something doesn’t feel right, talk to your case manager. You have the right to change providers, and there are better ones out there. I only wish I had asked sooner. Back in Motion needs serious reflection and accountability. Until then, I can’t recommend this location to anyone looking for proper injury care and support.

I don’t have enough words to express my gratitude. Trevor, and the entire team—thank you for helping me get back in motion! šŸ˜‚ When I first arrived, I was in so much pain. I felt defeated, angry, tired, and confused. I had tried everything—physiotherapy, injections, massages, medication—but nothing seemed to work. Now, after four long months of working side by side with this incredible team, I’m pain-free. I’m cycling again, walking, swimming, and even lifting weights! Trevor is not only an amazingly knowledgeable occupational therapist—he’s also an incredibly kind and genuine human being. I consider myself truly lucky to have received his care and support. Thank you, team, for giving me my life back

I want to be clear that I have not seen any treatment, nor is my review a reflection of the practitioners at this clinic. I called in here on a Sunday to book an RMT session. I repeated this numerous times and also wanted to confirm that with an ICBC claim this would not be anything out of pocket. The person over the phone said they booked me in for Tuesday and confirmed I wouldn't be paying anything out of pocket. On Monday I got a text saying I have an appointment for the next day, great it matches up with what I was told when I booked the appointment. Then I got a call from the clinic confirming that I again had an appointment, but it was for physio, not RMT. As I am already going somewhere else I won't be able to go here not a major issue, I'll rebook for RMT. Which isn't available until next week, which I asked to book (this is important). At this point, I am told I have to pay out of pocket as ICBC only covers 30 minute appointments. I tell the person on the phone that I'm on the website and it says it covers 45 minutes, I'm not sure where the 30 minutes is coming from. I tell this person that it's on the ICBC website that it covers for 45 minutes, not 30. After some back and forth where I ask for that in writing so I can tell my adjustor, the person on the phone says they can just call. At this point I've asked her to book next week and the following week's appointments. The coming Monday appointment (which I asked earlier to book) has now been filled by somebody else. I was then told that I could book a week after that at which point I declined service from this clinic.
