The decor is lovely, has a really nice feel to it. The service was ok but it was the busy Christmas period and there were only 2 people serving which is nowhere near enough - it’s not their fault but they couldn’t possibly keep up with all the tables. The food was pretty good, but the portions are quite small, we left a bit hungry and stopped off at Tescos on the way home.

Little note for you Yorkshire pudding fans order prior :) The Old Forge is an exceptional place. We had a large booking of 14 people, which is never easy to please, yet every single person said the same thing: this is the best place we’ve been to. We’ve had four dinners together as a group, and The Forge truly stood out as something unique. The atmosphere was beautiful, warm, and inviting, and the service — especially from Nina — was absolutely outstanding. She was attentive, professional, and genuinely caring, which made the whole evening feel effortless. The food was extremely tasty, with a fantastic variety to choose from for the Christmas dinner. Everything was well presented and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. And yes… great fun trying to work out the bill with 14 people 😂 Nina was an excellent host — it felt so personal, relaxed, and welcoming, like we were being looked after by a friend rather than just served at a restaurant. We’ll absolutely be back.

Lovely food on a Sunday. Beef roast and halloumi fish and chips very tasty. Ellie was an amazing server.

Saturday lunch in the Old Forge sat in a comfy wing back chairs having one of the best lunches so far this year was sublime. Pan roast lamp rump with baby roast poatoes, calvolo nero, tenderstem broccoli and chorizo servered with a favoursome reduced jus was delicious. Rhubarb and sour crumble with custard was fabilous 😋 Friendly staff delivering excellent service. Plently more appealing items on the menu, will be visiting again soon. ... Came back for Sunday Roast which was splendid!
