Five years in, and our roof is leaking due to poor workmanship. Couldn't speak to anyone about it, was told to email McGuinn Homes. They replied via email that we should contact a licensed roofer as the home is no longer under warranty, There are other issues with the home too. The tankless water heater they installed is sized for a tiny home with 2 occupants, not a 1900 SF home with a family of 4. So, we're unable to run any appliances or both showers due to inadequate water pressure, and it takes forever to heat. It will cost us thousands to upgrade it. Finally, we have a crack in the grout of the master bathroom floor that was repaired at our 11-month walk through and reappeared just weeks later. The builder was dismissive of my concerns about the cause of the crack in the grout. Well, I've recently been informed that the only reason it would crack like that is if there's a crack in the foundation underneath it. I'm considering contacting a construction defect attorney as these are major costly issues that indicate shoddy construction. (There is an 8-year statute of limitations under SC law.) If I had it to do over, I would avoid this builder.
We have had an amazing experience with Build on Your Land LLC. After purchasing land we met with several builders in our area. Once we walked into the Irmo/Columbia office we knew Build on Your Land was our choice! We worked with Ross, who did a great job explaining options to us and was so patient with us throughout the process! We’ve been in our home for almost 6 months now and love it! BOYL has been amazing throughout the entire process and have followed up to make sure any issues are resolved. We have had very minimal things that need repaired or corrected, but they have been great to follow up and see those through. We highly recommend Build on Your Land LLC to anyone looking to build a home!
