Crunch Fitness - Hamilton East Mountain

been in and out of various gyms for the last ten or so years and this is the first time I have felt like I need to commend a location. I come here in the evenings and do very specific workouts, I play para-hockey and this is the only location I have found that has the supplies I need to work on the exercises in my booklet. The staff here have been fantastic to me, including the personal trainers who have consistently given me motivation to push harder and have engaged with me about my sports outside of the gym. They have occasionally provided tips on better ways to do my workouts for more effective results. Only reason I didn't give a five is because I would say a day visit is almost the cost of a monthly pass, albeit four or five dollars cheaper but still a touch more than other brands. Friendly staff, clean location, polite members, strongly recommend!

Been working out at this location for the last 3 years. Surprised to see so many negative comments as this has been a wonderful gym considering the value. Lots of different people workout here with all sorts of different fitness goals, which is to be expected. Reason for the review today is because of Lorna who just joined the Crunch team. She came over today while I was working out and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Amazed that Crunch was able to pull this type of talent and it was obvious she has a passion for fitness. Thank you Lorna for taking this time with me this afternoon, it went a long way and I look forward to seeing you again! Gym is always clean, equipment repair turnaround time is very reasonable and the best Crunch location i've been to. (been to Mississauga, Burloak, Upper James, etc.)

Misleading Prices and Deeply Punitive Cancellation Policy I am writing this review to warn potential members about the misleading pricing structure and the deeply disappointing, predatory nature of Crunch Fitness’s membership and cancellation policies. The attractive $9.99/month introductory rate shown in advertisements is a classic bait-and-switch. Upon enrollment, you quickly discover an opaque fee structure that pushes the actual monthly cost well over $20, compounded by substantial, hidden annual charges. Worst of all, they levy an exorbitant Annual Maintenance Fee of over $67, regardless of whether you are a regular user or only visited the facility a couple of times. These charges are hidden and make the advertised price fraudulent. My biggest disappointment, and the primary reason for this low rating, is the gym’s completely obsolete and punitive cancellation policy. In 2025, Crunch Fitness still requires members to be physically present and provide a wet or digital signature on a specific machine to approve a cancellation request. This is an unnecessary and time-wasting barrier designed purely to retain members who wish to leave. It is baffling that banks and other financial institutions manage digital verification, yet Crunch requires this archaic, in-person requirement. Furthermore, the policy lacks basic human empathy. The company reportedly refuses to stop billing for serious situations like a medical emergency and continues to charge monthly fees even in the event of a member’s death until relatives can provide an official death certificate. This level of rigidity and lack of understanding demonstrates a shocking disregard for customer circumstances. I strongly advise against joining Crunch Fitness. Their focus appears to be on locking customers into unjust contracts and collecting maintenance fees, rather than providing quality service and flexible membership management. I am extremely dissatisfied with the terms and conditions, particularly the unforgiving cancellation process.
