Customer experiences
Hillbrook is a quirky nice place that represents a differentiated albeit less polished weekend escape from the DC area. I visited recently as a couple. We spent one night, had massages and dinner and breakfast. It's all largely reasonably priced and the general area is fairly bucolic. We stayed at the Hawthorne House which is about a 7 min drive from the main property. It is a stately modern house and our room was clean and well appointed. It is slightly bizarre how far it is from the main house and that there are just guests staying there with zero Hillbrook personnel. But fine. The massages were excellent so check there. The meals were directionally good but not exceptional. And the restaurant setting was cute but not particularly striking which is how I would describe the whole main Inn complex. Dinner took a long time to happen but our servers were good. I think as long as you appreciate what the Hillbrook Inn is and what it is not, you are set up for success. For a nice hour-ish retreat outside the City and something different than Salamander, or visiting Harpers Ferry and want a solid stay, then Hillbrook Inn is good. But if you want a luxury experience or a really manicured property, experience or nearby town, then this is not it. But thats okay!
We absolutely loved our stay at the beautiful Hillbrook Inn & Spa! From the moment we arrived, felt welcomed and completely at home. The property is charming, peaceful and full of character with a perfect mix of comfort and romance. Every detail, from the cozy rooms to the amazing breakfast, was thoughtfully done. We fell in love with it so much that we decided to book our elopement wedding here for next year! Its truly a special place that captures both heart and soul. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway or a memorable celebration spot!
Hillbrook Inn and Spa is an absolute gem of an experience for enjoying a first class Bed and Breakfast. The property and buildings are beautiful. Immaculately decorated and polished as though it were for a President (George Washington owned the property at one time!) Aside from the physical--the buildings, rooms, and spectacular interiors--the team that works at Hillbrook are in perfect synch. They attend to every need, are professional, kind, and friendly. My wife and I really enjoyed the wonderful meals prepared by world class chefs and served by the smartest restaurant staff. Not only did it taste out of this world, we got an education on the food and wine like we've never experienced. We really loved our vacation, and recommend Hillbrook highly for anyone considering a stay.
Beautiful idilic place out of the beaten path. I went with a friend , as a relaxing girl trip versus a romantic getaway. The restaurant is a real gem, and the highlight of our stay. The first night I stayed in a room that was noisy ( right above the restaurant, and the exhaust fan had a loud hum and vibration that went on the entire night), plus no blinds - the bed right under east facing windows … they switched me to a much nicer room the following night, but interestingly the first room costed me 100$ more than the second ( probably Saturday night versus Sunday night) … and not even a discount for having had a crappy night. Told them they should put no one in that room, really. Maybe should be an overflow room if something extraordinary happens. The spa is ok, I had a relaxing treatment, Angie was great. Surprisingly there is no map of the grounds, no room service for food at all, and if the restaurant is booked you have no way of being accommodated even if you are a guest. Not a lot of guidance on activities to do at the area, you have to be very self motivated and look for things. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, apparently belong to George Washington at some point. They could do a better job in giving you a bit of history too. All and all we had a good stay. But definitely not a “ customer oriented “ place.
Hillbrook Inn & Spa is a spa.
