To be honest, motels in Newfoundland have exceeded my expectations! We spent 10 days on "the rock" and generally the accommodations have been above average--clean sheets, comfortable beds, basic but very decent breakfasts. Hotel North boasts operable windows in the rooms--super!--and within a stone's throw, a wonderful walking path, Bottom Brook Trail. Adjacent to the hotel is Far East Restaurant, serving up Chinese and Canadian fare. Go there if you're plenty starved of vegetables from enjoying fish and chips 2x daily like we have :-)

We stayed here for two nights as part of an 11 day bus tour.||St. Anthony's is at the very northern tip of Newfoundland and I gather hotels are scarce. The hotel was fine, rooms were clean, and comfortable. There was a limited breakfast buffet in the morning.||My main issue was the lack of sound-proofing. I actually woke up in the middle of the night, thinking there was someone in our room.||Other members of the bus tour commented on how much you could hear from the halls, upstairs, next door etc.||Location was handy. A small mall across the street...Chinese restaurant next door.||This is not a town where 5 stars hotels are located.

Air conditioners are often right beside your head and pillows. 3 ft away… Very annoying at night. Small beds.
