So bad. Received a cashiers cheque issued by MERIDIAN on the advice of the teller so not to have large amounts of cash. When I went to the bank to cash the cheque they refused. Said only the account holder can cash the cheque. The cheque was not issued to the account holder, it came from them. Was told to have the account hold deposit the cheque into their account and then withdrawal the cash. This is so stupid. The entire reason for the cashiers cheque is to avoid large amounts of cash. When i asked to speak to the manager for an explication why they will not honour a cheque they issued they REFUSED TO TALK TO ME. The teller came back and said "the manager said only the account holder is authorized to cash the cheque" So in summary, issue a cheque to another person, named person goes to cash the cheque, gets refused, told an unnamed person that the cheque is NOT issued to will need to cash it. Lack the most of the absolute basic knowledge of banking. Went across the street to BMO, which I DO NOT have an account. Asked to cash the cheque. 1min later I have cash in hand. When asked why they did it, BMO said, the cheque is as good as cash. My family is already starting to pull its accounts from this institution. Lost business purely based on pathetic service and lack of simple banking practices. Refusing to talk to customer and explain non sense reasoning g didn't help either.

I have been dealing with Sam Basir at the Leaside Meridian Branch for several years now and have to say that he is absolutely exceptional. His professionalism, business/mortgage knowledge and customer service is second to none. He helped me through a very difficult situation, and treated me with such courtesy and respect, and I can't say enough about him. If you are in the market for a mortgage, or an amazing place to do your banking, you have to get in touch with Sam because he's awesome! Thanks Sam! Cheers!

Was spoken too like I’m a criminal , the accountant I spoke to dident even know what branch he worked at and told me my identification was wrong as it states I live in east York but he says it should be Leaside ,also to tell me he works at Leaside branch when it clearly says it’s the laird eglinton branch.I believe his name was jaffar and the other accountant I spoke with said the id I have was just fine to use to make an account next day I speak to jaffar and everything changes . Very demeaning and erroragant and no respect . Would not recommend this branch at all . If you don’t wear a suit and fit into they ways of lifestyle do not go here as you will be treated with no respect . Get better accountants and staff.

The staff at leaside were very helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. After trying with 3 different meridian contact centre people unsuccessfully while traveling in B.C I called the branch directly they fixed and advised on my every issue in minutes.
