Daniel HigginbottomThey did a diagnostic. Determined it was the starter/solenoid that needed replacing. HALT wanted $800 to do the work plus recommended another $1500 worth of stuff to be done. I didn’t let them do it. I just paid the $180 for the diagnostic and left. Since the starter was only intermittently failing, I planned to just trade in the car at a dealership but changed my mind and took it to another mechanic. I had the starter replaced for $450 and was told some of the other work that was suggested was not really necessary. As for service, everyone I interacted with at HALT was friendly. As for identifying the problem, they did it in just a few minutes and charged $180 for the they. As for the repair estimate… you can buy the starter under $200 including the core charge and it takes an hour to install it. I understand there is overhead running a business but $800 for the job is very high. This is the reason for the 3 star rating

I was truly impressed with the garage. The garage was extremely clean and the mechanics were nice and professional. Everything was explained to me in great detail. Jon GertigThis is the 3rd time I have used HALT to service my Toyota 4Runner. The last two times were only for oil changes and tire rotation. This time I had some major service performed. Braking is better than ever, even when I drove the 4Runner off the lot brand new. Shimmy in the steering is now gone on the highway. I feel much more comfortable towing now that I have had these things taken care of. I can say that HALT does a fine job and truely cares about getting your vehicle's service needs taken care of. Unless I have a different experience in the future (or do not own one of the makes they service), I will continue to use HALT for my vehicle's service needs.
