New York Yoga is my home away from home! This community is filled with passionate yogis and a caring, devoted staff. It's evident how much everyone cares about both the yoga practice and the entire experience. Plus the recent renovations have made the space even better. It's light, bright, and offers a great view of the Upper East Side out the windows. Another pro of this studio is that it's open to practitioners of all levels. New York Yoga offers various types of yoga, including yin, slow flow, all levels vinyasa, power flow vinyasa, and advanced power flow vinyasa. There's really something for everyone. Also, the heat! It feels fantastic. This is exactly where you want to be in the cooler weather and it actually helps you acclimate to the warmer weather in the summer months. This hot yoga studio is conveniently located by the 86th subway station , right off the 4/5/6 and super close to the Q train on 86th as well. Overall, the teachers, staff, and students are exceptional here. New York Yoga is a very special place and I feel so lucky to be a part of it!

It’s really disappointing to turn up 4 minutes late to a morning class and not be let in due to oversold spaces but you are told it’s because of a “new late policy” that no one even informs you about. The person at the desk was adamant and could not understand that I am new here since coming in frequently in the winter when there was no late policy at all. They just kept saying we can reschedule your class but you wont be allowed in. Literally being 4 minutes late for the first time ever and resuming yoga after months to be met with the most unwelcoming behaviour and being turned away at the door was so disappointing when it is the easiest thing to have a first class grace period for new clients/ returning clients. When I checked the so called notice she kept saying they send out, it actually DOES NOT communicate this policy at all- their confirmation email says ‘Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of class. If you are not checked in at least 5 minutes prior to the start of class, your spot may be given away to someone on the waitlist.’ There was NO WAITLIST and I was still turned away because she said the class was “running especially full today”, so it seemed like I was turned away because their room is too small for the spaces they sell and they didn’t want to have people make space!

I always enjoyed their yoga classes , have been coming since 2017 HOWEVER I AM ABSOLUTELY APPALLED WITH MY LAST EXPERIENCE THERE. I paid $39 for a class set up my mat and went to get towels , I requested 3 small towels knowing I would sweat a lot & was met with such attitude by Vince who was working the desk. He did not want to give me the towels because his words “I order them & they are very hard to clean” I do not like to write bad reviews so prior to this I emailed the company and was met with a very dismissive response to my concern. No client should he treated the way I was treated. I am not one to right bad reviews or fight with people but this incident had to be documented. I went to the class wanting to de stress and was met with more stress . I truly am very upset that a studio can treat a client like this. Again, good studio , over priced and bad management.

Out of all my options for yoga in the city, I keep coming back to New York Yoga. Front desk staff is personable. The studio is welcoming. But the instructors stand out the most! Cameron Gore is my favorite, she is so kind, intentional, and helpful. Her classes are challenging but she creates a safe environment to try and fail and that’s what I love the most! Also the heated floors are a plus :)
