In June/22 I had a wonderful stay in a Seaview suite with an ocean view. The suite was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with good appliances. The bathrooms had jacuzzi tubs and heated floors. The king size bed was very comfortable with good bedding. Andreas was very hospitable and quick to respond to my questions/requests. I had to cancel a previous reservation at Seaview Suites due to the flooding in November and Andreas refunded my money. Thanks for everything Andreas.
I stayed here on my honeymoon in May of 2001. When I did that it was known as the Quality Inn at Mt. Douglas Park. Here's what I remember of it:||Overall Property: The place is quite nice looking. The hallways were very nicely decorated. They had interesting wood carvings and totem poles around the property. There's also a nice grassy area with tables and chairs that you can sit out in. The place is quiet except for road noise (more on that later).||Rooms: We stayed in the San Juan Penthouse room complete with jacuzzi, whirlpool bath, fireplace, sitting room and balcony. The room has an ocean view and you can sit on the balconies. The furniture was very nice, and the bed was quite comfy. The jacuzzi was nice to have. It's big enough for two. The carpet was unfortunately worn low grade motel carpet. Not something I'd expect in a "Penthouse" room. Also the fireplace had virtually invisible gas flames. If I turned off all the lights, I could barely see a little blue off of the flames. It did generate a lot of heat.||All the rooms either face the ocean or the opposite way, toward the park, which from the room's point of view is a hill with a bunch of trees past the parking lot. The parking lot is narrow and close to the building so that actually shouldn't spoil the view hardly.||I mentioned road noise earlier. The hotel has a very well traveled 2-lane road between it and the ocean view. It made it impossible to enjoy the ocean view from my balcony as there was constant road noise. The balcony's have walls which actually concentrate the sound. The room itself was very well sound proofed, but I was really bummed that I couldn't sit out on the balcony and enjoy the view. The other side of the road had a lot of trees that probably block most of the ocean view by now. ||They also supply a nice continental breakfast. The staff friendly and helpful. The rates were outstanding for what I'd pay in the US for such a room.||I'd stay again, but I'd want a park view room instead so I could enjoy sitting out on the balcony. I'd also want to make sure there was new carpeting and they'd upgraded the fireplace to actually show flames.||When I tell this people about this place, I say it would have been great if it were on the other side of the road.|
We stayed at the Sea-View Inn end of May (Memorial Day) which is privately held by a German family. I'm German myself (transplanted to the Bay Area 5 1/2 years ago), so I thought this could be a pleasant experience to connect with some fellows of my home country.||I wanted to make it a nice Memorial-Day getaway so I booked the "Executive Deluxe Ocean View Suite with Jetted Tub". The result was a Motel-6 kinda room, so what about Executive and Deluxe and Suite. At least we got a nice view and normal sized bath tub with some jets. The bed was low quality the pillows and sheets were starting to rott and staff was not very helpful but aware of problems and said the owners would know but nobody does anything about it.||Breakfast was also Motel 6 niveau.||Summary:|- Room was definitely overstated|- Too expensive what it provided ( $300 for 2 days for Motel6 standard)|- somewhat hard to sleep because of proximity to coast road.|- location is ok|
