This isn’t because of my surgeon as he did wonderful and same to his surgical team! But the people after the surgery I had to deal with are not what I would consider KU medical devoted employees! They do not run this hospital like the one down town KC. They at Olathe treat patients like crap and lie to them and cause lots of stress when they shouldn’t be dealing with this stuff after major surgeries! KU needs to reevaluate the Sr. Administration held positions and the nurses under them! These people treat you like crap! I had a hip surgery and was released after I had to argue with them they told me I would be out in a day or so after surgery! The ladies that took me to the door made me walk all the way across the parking lot to get to my car so I could leave! Yes they took me to the door in a wheelchair but then said “The ride ends here” which was rude! Nobody scheduled my home nurse regiment or anything else that I am supposed to be getting to make sure I don’t get an infection for the last 2 weeks! Surgeon was great but hospital staff needs a lot more education on how to be polite and not so rude!

I was in this ER ON Sept 8th. I witnessed an elderly woman, probably in her 80s, ask a nurse for help getting to the bathroom. The woman was completely alone and had been there for over 3 hours. She was told by the nurse she would be right back to help her. When the nurse continues to go around the room taking vitals the woman asked again for assistance (I'm only in my 50s and can't go 3 hours in-between bathroom visits) and was told there's were others there to. I was appalled and so sad for this woman. My sister was able to help her and witnessed her crying in pain. So now it's time for me to go back and be seen after being there for over 5 hours. I was there for severe stomach pains and a large distended stomach. When the PA came in she said "so you have documented chronic constipation, your bowels don't move so what do you want us to do". I was shocked! I didn't even know how to reply so I said "I need to go to work t

It has been 14 months since I visited Olathe Medical Center. The ER staff were fantastic. I have no complaints about the care I received. The hospital and the insurance settled on the bill in June of 2024. I received my bill and paid it. In February 2025, I received another bill from them. I was very confused since 9 months had passed since I visited and had already paid off the initial bill. Initially, I thought it was a mistake since my hospital bill already said I paid for the service provided, however, I just learned that what I paid for was a hospital bill and this is an ER bill. Long story short, I requested an itemized bill, did not receive it (that could be my fault it may have been lost in the mail) and the bill was sent to collections very quickly. This to me is ironic since it took 9 months for them to send me the bill. I don’t know how much more money they need but apparently they aren’t playing around. Olathe Medical Center, please do better with billing patients. Furthermore, if you have two separate charges for a service that seems suspiciously similar to one another, it might be helpful to explain why to the patient.

My father was here for almost a week and it was absolutely astounding the care he received. They didn’t give him all of his meds, the nurses were extremely rude and didn’t seem to care about anybody they cared for. My father asked to use the restroom and a nurse didn’t come in until an hour and a half later so he had already soiled himself and then got to sit in it. The staff were extremely unprofessional and my dad kept telling them he needed his anxiety medication (my mom and grandmother both passed away at the SAME hospital a month prior) because he was uncomfortable being there. Do NOT take anyone you care about here. They end up dead or mistreated.

Olathe Hospital is a general hospital.
