We loved our stay at the Dashwood. We came to Victoria to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and were unsure of where to stay. We stumbled across the Dashwood and picked the Dorset for 3 nights. We were both blown away by the charm of the building itself but also how attentive the staff was during breakfast service. Loved the coffee/tea and baked goods available 24/7, it was such a nice touch. The architecture of the house is unique and each room has its own special features. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well cared for. The location is perfect, right along Dallas Rd which was perfect for jumping on our bikes for a seaside ride. We brought a car and were happy to have free parking behind the Dashwood. I highly recommend staying here!
We had a lovely stay at Dashwood Manor, a beautifully maintained historic house right on the coast. Our room, Camelot, offered stunning sea views and was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The hot breakfast was delicious, and thoughtful touches like complimentary on-site parking, soft drinks, hot beverages, and freshly baked goods added to the experience. The team was warm, welcoming, and offered great local recommendations. While a fellow guest raised a noise complaint, the staff handled it promptly and professionally, and we were impressed by their responsive and proactive approach to service recovery. Though a bit on the pricey side, the quality and hospitality made it well worth it.
We were looking forward to staying at the Dashwood Manor based on the reviews from various sites. The house looked quaint from the photos and the reviews were good. Our stay was for five nights which is longer than most stays based on reviews that we have read. We stayed in the Park Lane Room, which as per the site info, stated that the room was newly decorated. Unfortunately, not the case. To be clear, this is a standard Queen room not a suite. The room needs a renovation for many reasons. The bathroom has rusty fixtures, chips in the sink, a vanity with old shutters as cupboard doors and a hole in the vanity with lattice work covering the pipes. The mold on the tub, the leaking faucet in the tub, the running toilet, all contribute to the need for reno. The whole bathroom is old and tired. The closet door in the main room is missing yet the track is still there showing the inside of a closet that can be deemed "rustic". Broken slats in the blinds. The area carpet was dirty and needs a refresh as does the sitting chairs. We left windows open as there is a musty smell in the room. Nothing quaint about the room at all. Although our stay was for five nights, there is no housekeeping provided regardless of the number of nights you book. We did ask for fresh towels and they changed the bed sheets on day two without us asking. There was one old pillow on each side of the bed when we arrived. They did switch these out and gave us four newer ones when they changed the sheets. If you don't ask, there is no service for longer stays. The room was not prepared for a five night stay as there were no extra towels or shampoo/body wash. We did ask to move to another room and would upgrade, unfortunately they were fully booked. Pictures on their website are not current which does not reflect the look of the room we stayed in. The gardens need refresh as does the entrance to the house. We understand the age of the home and have stayed at similar B&B's, yet this absolutely did not meet the quality that we have seen before at other inns/manors. We get the sense that this room is not used unless necessary. Not sure if the other standard rooms are up to par or if the pictures on the website are accurate. Upside was that the staff was friendly, the breakfast is very good and the location is perfect for walking along the water or through the park.
