I love this pet store. I have been a customer for several years. You have items that I can only purchase there for my spoiled girl. My only regret is that you do not carry Buffalo Blue dry or wet food for dogs. My spoiled girl is particular and her taste buds change regularly. She is stuck on Buffalo Blue for now, and I have to travel to Virginia's PetSmart and Petco or order online at Chewy. I know you have it for cats. Is there a reason that you do not carry it for dogs? Thank you for allowing me to share this concern with you!

Clean, well stocked, but not sure if most of the staff even care for animals. It's more or less the only place to go if you live nearby. No other stores, unless you want to go to Fragers (which, maybe a better option? Just fewer choices) We've shopped here for years, clean, stocks the supplies we need for our dog, but...we have never, literally not once, gotten anything from their rewards program. 0 idea what the point of that is. There are only a handful of staff members who seem actually engaged to be there. Even fewer, who...openly enjoy animals? Our dog has gotten maybe 2 treats from this store in the 2 years we've been going. I have 0 animosity towards the folks phoning it in. It's a retail job. I honestly get it. It's just funny/weird to me that this is the only pet shop, including major box stores like Petco, etc., where my dog seems to be a bother 😅 Anyways, I'll be back next month for more food.

Customer satisfaction is not a priority at Howl to the Chief. In contrast to other pet stores I've visited, both large chains and small businesses, they offer a reasonable return policy with 100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back, this is not the case at Howl to the Chief. Despite having the receipt and returning my items within the specified timeframe, I was denied a refund. Nowhere online or in the store does it state that opened items cannot be returned. Only empty ones or damaged ones. Both items I bought for my dog did not work at all, and were barely used, I guess this is thought as damaged goods? As any dog owner knows, each dog is unique and reacts differently to various products. So, this no return policy is extremely unsatisfactory, not even store credit was offered. On top of this, the other times I've visited Howl to the Chief I was never greeted or offered assistance in finding what I needed, so I will not be returning. Thankfully, there are other locally-owned pet supply stores nearby where I can shop and receive better service.

Lacks customer service, knowledge of products and seem more interested in staff chat and their phone. Walked in 2 separate times. A few weeks ago, two ladies were at the desk chatting and didn’t speak the entire time until I walked over to the counter. I went again yesterday 08/05/24 in the evening and the same thing happened except there was only 1 lady this time. When I walked in the store looked empty of staff so I had to look around a bit before seeing the lady at the cash register focused on her FaceTime call. When I approached the register, she still did not speak or acknowledge until I asked her a question. She looked a bit annoyed she had to switch her attention to the guest and pointed to the item I asked for.. I’ve been in customer for over a decade. Any place I’ve ever worked, we greeted guest who entered the establishment, especially guest that are new customers. I wanted more info on some of the products offered but I did ask because I felt like I was annoying the lady honestly just with my presence and needing assistance. I’m assuming the staff may be comfortable with their regulars, but as a new customer I did not feel welcomed or acknowledged and probably won’t return.
