Needed a place for only 2 nights - met our needs. Big very comfy king bed for 2. Clean bathroom, & shower was EXCELLENT, soaps/shampoo, big towels included although overall a no-frill place. Uniquely redone building into several "apart/hotel units" configured like a jigsaw puzzle. Central communal kitchen area with all you might need though no freezer. Honor system for food in frig but we had no problems with others taking our stuff. Several close bus stops. Triple security - outer entry lock, building lock, & room locks. A bit noisy outside when this 70 year old couple was going to bed, but near shops/restaurants/college campus we expected that. LG screen TV if you need. Good & updated communication from owners. Only a minute's walk to wide variety of shops & restaurants (I recommend Jaffa - middle eastern foods delicious!!) And a great coffee shop right next door. Cons: Initial impression was that it was clean, however the corner where I opened my suitcase was missed. My black fleece jacket fell on floor & was totally covered with dust. Otherwise clean room. A few shelves (1 in bathroom & 1 in living space) would have been helpful. BUT- there was iron & iron board provided; we improvised & set up the ironing board as a shelf/dresser-top. Overall we enjoyed our stay, our room, & the price.

The rooms at 6Adelphi are well equipped and clean. The beds are comfortable and showers work well. The small shared kitchen on the lower floor is convenient. We have used 6Adelphi a few times over the last few years due to its accessibility to the city centre, price and convenience. ||We were advised when booking our last stay to call directly rather than go through booking.com as a better price can be given. This was great and it felt like the cherry on the cake. Decent room in a good location and an even better price. ||I recently called to make a booking as my father-in-law was going for emergency brain surgery at Preston hospital and wanted to be closer. ||I checked booking.com at 2.00am and called and again at 8.55 to double check available before I called at 9.00 am. At this time several rooms were showing as available. ||As usual I called and reached one of the managers who was polite as usual. And as always at this time of day she was out and about on business, well actually driving at the time of the call, she advised that she would be back in the office in the afternoon but was actually working and taking business calls. ||I explained our situation and she kindly put my mind at rest and told me she had taken my name and a room would definitely be booked for us for the following day and this would be updated with the office and she would call me back as soon as she arrived at work to take payment! don’t worry it’s sorted I believe she said. Well in my head it was a done deal and another worry gone. ||At about 14.00 I called the office number back as I hadn’t heard anything and was starting to worry a little. I was advised by the same person that she had just got to the office and guess what!! There are no rooms available! Well that’s just what we want. ||It’s now 14.00 and we have to find a hotel / apartment in the city centre within our budget but close enough to the hospital so we can get there in an emergency. This was honestly a letdown. ||I explained that I had checked and double checked and at 9.00am when I called her rooms were showing as available and I could have just gone ahead and booked online. I was told booking.com was incorrect and apparently hadn’t updated, which is a new one on me!! However when she agreed to give us a room she must have been aware rooms were available as I was told “don’t worry it’s sorted a room has been booked” ||We have had some very nice stays at 6Adelphi over the years, I’m not for a second saying it’s a bad place, hence the score given. ||What I am saying is definitely book through a booking agent like booking.com or you could potentially be disappointed or let down last minute. ||In my opinion this could be rectified by simply diverting called to the office or to someone who is based at home that has access to the booking database so your booking can be secured there and then. ||It seems that only one staff member can take bookings and payment over the phone which in my opinion isn’t great as you get asked to call back as she doesn’t seem to be in the office until the afternoon. ||This isn’t the first time I have called and spoke to the manager while she has been out and about in morning and not in the office until the afternoon, infact it seems like a common trend. ||As I have already said in my initial statement everything about the accommodation is good. It’s clean and tidy, convenient, well priced, the cleaners you bump into on arrive are friendly and helpful. ||A bit of work around customer service would definitely elevated this establishment. I mean making sure rooms are available before agreeing to give them to a customer is pretty standard in this game.

On the surface, my room was clean and equipped. However, had not had a deep clean for a long time. The smell of dampness and mould was overwhelming on entering and the shower was the culprit which was absolutely wracked with green and black mould. Awful.
