I’ve been renting from Stewart Property for over a year now. We had an issue with our dryer in December right before holidays and we got it replaced the same day so we wouldn’t have to be without. Recently the dryer was not working again and Victoria came to the house checked it out and had someone fix what was wrong with it within a few days! I love the space we have and Victoria always responds quickly and gets repairs done.

My roommate and I rented from Stewart for about a year. They seemed quite good to deal with until we started having some issues with the house. TL;DR Maintenance team has poor response time, if they even respond at all. Called someone else for a repair due to Stewart’s negligence, got footed with bill. Steer clear of this company, if possible. The furnace quit in winter on Friday, and the house was without heat for a better part of the day. When my roommate came home and noticed it, him and I both made several immediate calls to Stewart’s emergency maintenance line. No one answered for several hours, and we left several messages. With a -20 to -25 night approaching, we called a local mechanical company to have someone come and look at the furnace. About the same time he arrived, I finally got through to Stewart’s maintenance guy. He was displeased we called someone else to come fix the furnace. Time is of the essence when a furnace quits in a Saskatchewan winter - I don’t know how long they expected us to wait. They did offer to reimburse us for this repair. Shortly after the furnace quit, the toilet sprung a fresh water leak on a Thursday night. My roommate called at 9am the next Friday morning and scheduled a repair. He was told it would be repaired the same day. No one showed up that Friday. He tried calling the emergency maintenance line again, no one answered. He left a message. With no response from anyone going into the weekend, he called a local plumber to make the repair. Over the weekend, we didn’t notify Stewart the repair had been made (it wasn’t possible, they wouldn’t answer their emergency line or return our calls). The weekend passed - no one showed up to make the repair, no one called to let us know they were coming, at any point. My roommate called Stewart Monday morning and told them about the situation. They initially told us we would be reimbursed for the repair - they later changed face and told us they would not be covering it. After some discussion about the ordeal, we were told something along the lines of “our sense/definition of urgency may be different”, as to say we should have waited, indefinitely, without the use of our only toilet. If there would have been any communication at all, these unfortunate circumstances could have been avoided. Unfortunately, in my experience, Stewart Properties is just another property management company willing to take advantage of its tenants in order to preserve their bottom line. I would certainly suggest that anyone steer clear of this company, if possible.
