Rooms are old and outdated. Small cramp. Old wooden chair in room was all I had to sit on. Wobbled when I moved st all. I thought it was going to collapse. I am handicapped and I had to sit on the bed. Understaffed. Nurses were nice though. Haven’t seen the doctor because I came he was admitted on the weekend when the doctor was off. WVU is a corporate demon!!!

Absolute worst experience dealing with WVU Healthcare. Visited the Emergency Room last night and was to follow up the next day with a specialist and schedule an appointment due to persistent pain. Today is 11/06/2025 and the first appointment available is in February of 2026. What is a patient to do if they have persistent issue or are in pain and no WVU Healthcare specialist is available for 2-3 months out..? This timeline is even longer if you want to see an actual doctor and not a CNP or PA which is NOT what I pay my insurance premiums for. Called a specialist in Winchester, VA and low and behold got an appointment tomorrow 11/07/2025 to be seen. Ran into another issue with their Berkeley Medical Center ENT where I had to cancel a scheduled appointment and the receptionist was OVERLY RUDE and stated someone would call back to reschedule and that NEVER HAPPENED. Two days later the anesthesiologist called to get some pre-surgery information and I explained that it was cancelled had to be rescheduled. Yet another 2 days later another person contacted me for pre-surgical information and I had to explain one more time that it was cancelled and I was awaiting a call for rescheduling. Needless to say, I chose another provider for the septoplasty that is required and I am using providers in Winchester, VA or Frederick, MD moving forward. Quick note: Same goes for attempting to obtain a new PCP in Jefferson/Berkeley County where the earliest they can see you is 2-3 months out so you are forced to go to an Urgent Care where all they do is treat symptoms, not causes. One caveat is the Jefferson Medical Center (hospital) in Charles Town was decent and ran full panels + CT in an attempt to determine the causation, to no avail however. Over all experience utilizing the WVU Healthcare system is a 1 star based on my experiences over the last 2-3 years. Poorly managed, rude staff at most locations I've personally dealt with and it has seemingly gotten worse through the years. Just remember, there are no bad teams, only bad leaders. Look to make executive/managerial staffing changes to improve the quality of service and care. Is the system that overwhelmed due to all the West Virginians in state run healthcare who are mandated to use the WVU Healthcare system or is there another reason for subpar standards in care? My advice for the people in Jefferson/Berkeley counties in West Virginia using private health insurance, your best option is to find care outside WVU Healthcare system. Fortunately, INOVA is building a facility in Ranson, WV and if it is anything like their other locations, it should bring the much needed professionalism and care to the area.

I want to sincerely thank the entire team at WVU Berkeley Medical Center for the exceptional care my mom received during her recent day. From the emergency room to the surgical unit, every staff member was professional, kind and compassionate. Care was not only efficient and thorough, but also delivered with genuine empathy. I am truly grateful for the outstanding treatment mom received and want to thank everyone who played a role in her care. I want to recognize Dr. Mark Anthony and RN Nikki. Dr. Anthony was highly skilled and exceptionally compassionate and reassuring. RN Nikki displayed kindness, attentiveness and genuine care that made all the difference in mom‘s recovery. Her calm and general presence gave mom a real comfort during a difficult, scary time. Keep up the compassionate and wonderful care WVU Berkeley Medical Center!

Anyone who has lived in this area their entire life knows better than to even take their dog here! My aunt from Kentucky who is an RN had to come down and handle matters here as medications were being poorly mixed and shouldnt have been. Another poor thing about this hospital is they call security on loud patients. Im sorry, but people with dementia, brain cancer and many other things can be loud and they don't mean it. Stop calling security just because someone's loud. Its very distasteful and feels threatening and I've been in security 8yrs. If the patient was violent I could understand, but calling just because a patient is loud is absurd. I was brought to the ER once because I passed out 3 times from a TB test and they told me I had a fear of needles, but the TB test was for a phlebotomy job so what a quack! These are just some the reviews I have about this place. Get it together!
