Before and after Sally review, as our entire family have been staying there many years, both before and after the new owner. First off, this is one of the nicest settings up and down the Cape. A classic rustic setting, and has always been affordable. Wooded surrounds short of renting a much more expensive home are hard to better. Typical sized motel rooms, mostly just enough for 1-2 with a few bungalows with more amenities for a family of 3-4 and I recall 2 slightly larger rooms near the office. A step up from camping but could be 2 steps. Now the criticisms and I knew Sally, I wish the new owner nothing but the best as it would be a shame if this one disappeared to over development. Cleanup crew for towels etc. only show up after checkout which is not good. The owner is off-sight which presents difficulties although he responded when we addressed our concerns. Typical not very private rooms depending on which one you are in. Bathroom was clean but there were signs of not very thorough cleaning in the rest of our room, this needs to be addessed. This entire motel needs a good going over by a carpenter or good handyman who could IMO give this charming little place a really nice makeover for not alot of money. And the hot water as if 6/21/2025 is dangerously hot. I will tell the owner to fix this before I check out. Overall, I would go back but I wish I could do a good sit-down with the new owner-sort of a "we can make this right " and this will still be a little gem in a great spot on the Cape.
My wife and I have been going down to the Cape Cod National Seashore for the past 25 years. However, I discovered this area 40 years ago when I was a seasonal (summer) park Ranger. This is a beautiful area of the Cape that President John F. Kennedy created back in the 1960s. This is the part of the Cape that is protected from development under the legislation that created the National Seashore, so there are no high buildings and no fast food chains or other franchises that detract from so much of the other parts of Cape Cod.||We know the area very well. We have stayed at the Midway in Eastham before, and it is well managed. It offers terrific accommodations that we really like. Mind you, there are very few upscale hotels in this part of the Cape (with the exception of Provincetown.) Almost all hospitality venues are very small family run businesses. All rooms are air conditioned, with updated TV's, refrigerators and microwaves. The bathrooms are comfortable, and WIFI access easy. The property is right on the Cape Cod bike trail, which stretches from Yarmouth to Wellfleet, and is almost 26 miles long. There is access to some of the world‘s best, award-winning beaches, such as Coast Guard beach, which is on Dr. Beach’s list of Top Ten Beaches in the U.S.||There are a variety of affordable restaurants in the area to choose from. All in all, a great choice if visiting the Lower Cape
We had an excellent time here in the Steerage room! The room and location are beautiful. Calling this a motel really is a misnomer- regardless of your room, it feels like you're luxury-style camping, since you're staying in the middle of the woods. The grounds have a natural and rustic aesthetic, and it stays pretty cool thanks to the surrounding trees! There are some fire pits and grills around you can use if you check in with the owner, too! You're nice and close to beaches here, but you're pretty far back from the loud cars in the main road. The beds were quite comfortable! The room reminded me of home and we all felt comfortable immediately. That being said, some reviews complain about bugs, and there were, occasionally, bugs. This is, of course, because there are bugs in the woods, and while you are here, you are sharing that space with them. If you're careful with not keeping the door open long, you shouldn't have many issues, but we tended to leave it open when the breeze was nice. All in all, this is a WAY better experience than any other motel. Excellent and compassionate management, good location, good rooms, etc. And great for a birdwatcher like me!
A lovely rustic motel in the woods off the US-6 highway near an excellent bike trail, within walking distance to our favorite seafood place, Arnold's, and a short distance from some great nature trails. The room had all the amenities. The beds were comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our four-night stay. Thank you, Alan, Andrey, and Darya! We hope to come again.
