Journey House helped change my life. I started as a participant, became a Peer Leader, then an employee, and now live independently and work in restaurant management. I arrived in December, 2021, with little more than a sliver of hope that I could develop and maintain a recovery lifestyle after 25 years of being controlled by drugs and alcohol. The staff showed me a kind of love I had never experienced. For 2 years I lived in a JH recovery house, and was encouraged, challenged, and supported as I learned a completely new way to live. My Peer Leaders and Facilitators there are some of the best people I’ve ever met. One has even become one of my closest friends. The founder, Mike, and his wife, treated me like a family member, and still take time to encourage me regularly. I have a life worth living again. I get to be a parent again, and a friend, and a son, and a productive member of society. Best of all, I have self worth, for the first time. Journey House didn’t give me these things, but provided the perfect environment for me to grow and develop. I am forever grateful.
I owe so much gratitude for an organization that has literally helped save me life. The staff is amazing, loving and compassionate. The biggest difference in this recovery organization than others is you feel a sense of belonging as soon as you step in the door. You also have an individualized recovery plan that you help create.There are people to help each set of the way.
