I’ve stayed in some questionable motels, but the Shangra La in Rhode Island made me genuinely grateful to wake up alive. Walking into the room felt like stepping onto the set of a horror movie that didn’t even have the budget for fake blood.||||Highlights: The carpet had a mysterious stickiness that made me consider burning my shoes afterward.||||The “bed” was less a sleeping surface and more a medieval torture device stuffed with regret.||||The décor could only be described as “post-apocalyptic thrift store chic.”||||Bathroom? Oh, you mean the crime scene reenactment booth with flickering lights.||||I’m fairly certain the air conditioning unit doubled as a portal to the underworld.||||The only thing this place successfully provided was a sense of paranoia. I spent the night convinced I’d either be robbed, haunted, or both. Five stars for fear factor, zero stars for literally everything else.||||Bottom Line:||Stay here if you’ve always wanted to test your survival instincts in a controlled environment. Otherwise, sleep in your car—it’s cleaner, safer, and has less chance of traumatizing you.

I came here a lot I never had a problem. One day I came. I felt like the floor was very dirty. I had nothing to clean the floors with so I use the towels that they provided when I was done cleaning the floors with the towels they were so nasty and black that they ended up charging me for the towels when all they did was clean up the floor for them.. I never went back again 🤦🏽

Ok, I am changing my review from 5 star review to 1 star. Upon my return on a second occasion, my daughter was not allowed to check in. Not only would the owners not allow her to check in, they told her I could call and get my money back. Then they refused to accept my phone call. Hung up on me. So now my daughter is checked in to the motel down the street and Shangra La owners are keeping my money. Probably already rented my daughter’s room to someone else. Too bad they treated her so poorly and didn’t recognize her as a return customer who left them a glowing review from the last visit.

People here are nice 🤩 Friendly and accommodating with all needs, you may want. Rooms have been remodeled, with a beautiful entertainment center, wall lights with phone, and MORE. They are VERY compassionate owners and became friends of ours. With Covid our plans have changed temporarily and being here has been GRREAT. Close to all conveniences needed. We appreciate the people and very clean rooms! We switched around for our reasons. Blessings ALL & Thank You Blessings, C.R. & S.G.
